Post game MLK day win party thread: Warriors pull away late
Whew, close one. No easy wins on the road, but Golden State will take it
The daytime back-to-back was a little weird, but the Golden State managed to pull away from the Washington Wizards late, 127-118. That’s 2-1 on the road trip, and a big sigh of relief for a team hoping to right the ship. The Warriors now get a couple of days off and will visit the White House to soak in the accolades off last year’s improbable championship before getting back to work on summoning another banner to the rafters.
Good work, great team effort. And some really huge plays from Draymond Green down the stretch!
It took a 27-8 run to close the game, but as Curry said after the game, “we’ll do whatever it takes to right the ship.”

Warrior Wonder poll
Obviously, Curry probably defaults into this one, but maybe, just maybe it could go to Draymond Green? Two huge three-pointers late and then some real clutch defense, and nifty passing to boot?
I’ll leave it to the post game comments to iron out the details, but here’s a poll - because we like to keep it democratic around DNHQ.
Voted Poole for WW because I think his contribution most exceeded the recent trends. Green has been rocking more often than not including while Steph was out, and Poole has been in the upswing but this was a good one for him:
- Scored a buncha points including a nice 3 down the stretch to help put it away
- No clutch turnovers
- Attentive effort overall
Between this kid looking more comfortable, Klay, Dray, and Steph all in shape, Loon being steady as usual, and DDV contributing effort off the bench, the rotation is looking a lot more like it ought to.
Now we need Wiggs to shake off the rust and get fired up, Kuminga to come back strong, and a couple other details to round into place. Lamb contract? Wiseman/Iguodala/JMG health? Big-man on a 10-day? Moody stepping up? Those would probably all be nice boosts though not strictly necessary.
