Last week I said trade Chiozza for Giannis and everyone was like "No way, Cheeze is our guy, he brings the ball up, great court vision, ball handling, plus we'd have to give up picks" and I was like, OK, I guess they know more than I do. Stay humble. But tbh it's really hard not pointing out that tonight Giannis made 17 of 21 shots from the field and was 14 of 18 at the foul line for a 50-piece. I know, I know, one game is too small a sample. That's fair. Plus it's hard to compare players at different positions. Still.
Watching this Clips Suns game man kudos to our front office solely on who they were after in the offseason and missed:
Batum, Hartenstein, patty Mills. About the only positive whiff was on Kent Bazemore not because he may not have fit better than w Lakers but that was probably GP2 spot he would have taken (or Porter)
You knew if you gave Morey enough time, he'd ruin the Sixers. With Simmons on his way out, they were shaping into another team I could enjoy in the East. Now? Like drinking spoiled milk out of the carton. Yack!
And now my contender for Least Interesting Player award: Maxi Kleber. He doesn't do anything amazingly well, he doesn't do anything all that badly. He doesn't as far as I know get into controversies. He's just ... a player. Try to produce a hot take on him. Good luck. Is there a more lukewarm player in the league?
The entire encounter was pretty memorable and since my wife was filming from a short distance away and another friend captured some good images, I was able to create a five-minute video of sort of an Explain One Play (but without a telestrator and not as funny). Getting the shot was a story of triumph over my own ineptitude because the whale was so cooperative and seemed to determined to get me a good shot. https://youtu.be/i5TYB8FzEQQ
Lot of talk about Zubac killing the Dubs last night, and I agree, having a big who can bang with guys like him would be nice.
The bigger issue might've perimeter defense though. I don't think Poole stayed in front of his man very many times, Klay was getting blown by too. Even Wiggins was getting burned.
OK, FWIW here's my JoKu basketball comparison take... Celtics 1986* #2 pick: Len Bias!
Not much to go on but college highlights but a 6'8" athletic freak, with a nice touch and explosive power around the rim. He didn't play with the 3pt line but developed a nice baseline jumper. The ultimate 'What if?' in NBA for me. From the eye test, they just both have that natural physical X-factor and they can ball.
*FYI a certain Wardell Stephen Curry I, was drafted at #15, the seeds of our Great DubNation were planted.
Is it true that Bob Myers said the Dubs already have 5 centers in his 95.7 interview this morning? If true then, it may be another guard if they even entertain anything in buy out.
Steph currently 22/34 (65%) on 2 point shots in February, and 67% TS on 49/40/96 percentage splits over 6 whole games... don't want to count the chickens already, but Steph is looking more like Steph. If we get Dray back and get our defense together, and Steph has a good March/April, he can easily get back in MVP conversation.
Poole will be much better with wiseman running pick and rolls with him, hes not the best at isolation scoring and seems not to be that effective running pick and pops with bjelica in the second unit.
One reason why poole excels as a starter is we run much more post action with looney on the court, as soon as bjelica and our second unit comes in it seems that it all stops
Oops, the dyslexia must be creeping up. haha

How many games have the Suns had this season where they play an opponent who's on a back-to-back and who'd played the Warriors the previous day?

Is there some reason GPII is playing less? Shots are not dropping, as minutes are dropping off, less is not more. 5-7-4

You might recall the humpback whale pick I shared on Sunday (https://twitter.com/goofusmcp/status/1493008984868995073?s=21)

Celtics dump Kanter and are up 37 in the third on the Sixers in Philly. Powerful.

Hope it's just tired legs. I miss Draymond.

To all the posts I've hearted but have been swatted away by Substack like I'm (5'10") trying to score on Mutombo ☝️
