Post Game: A joyous Klay Day to all!
Thompson returns, Curry gets hot, Looney inhales rebounds... Dubs win
I cried twice before Klay Thompson even clocked a single minute. The Golden State Warriors started off the night with a heartfelt tribute video that got me. There’s so much history here, and it’s hard to imagine a player that’s easier to root for than Thompson. And then, as expected, again when he took the floor for the first time. Watching Curry run out behind Kevon Looney so that Thompson had the limelight all to himself was just too much.
Oh, and the Warriors won - partially because of Thompson’s contributions. He may not have had his most efficient night ever, but it was effective.

There was a lot to like about tonight’s game though, beyond Thompson’s return; from Looney’s incredible rebounding game, to Gary Payton jumping over a dude (and did Payton have a limp all game?)… but I’m going to leave that to my esteemed colleagues. For now, let’s just celebrate the return of one of the best to ever do it.
While still looking just a tiny bit rusty, I have to say that I was extremely impressed with how good Thompson looked. Perhaps a bit slow to change direction, his shot is still phenomenal, and his defensive instincts are fully intact after the hiatus.
Welcome back. The inaugural Klay Day was one to remember.

Totally unrelated: does the sort of cacophonous fans background chorus come from this one? (Warriors, 1979). https://youtu.be/aRM2YcGpmxg
Remember when the talk was how the Warriors' soft schedule was a major question mark in terms of how good the Warriors might be this year? (Never mind that Phoenix's even softer schedule never seemed to be brought up).
