Sounds like Bjelica mulling a return to Europe?

After Loon, what other intriguing bigs are left?

I'm kinda looking at Ibaka or Dieng for some bigs that can shoot a little bit. Or maybe they just go with another traditional big in Lopez.

Damn. Tough to wake up to this...

Still, I wish you the best. Go on with your bad self GP2.

I am really sad to see GPII go - but really happy that he's getting paid. Portland games just got tougher.

Would you guys give up Wiseman (if possible somehow) and sign GP2 for 28/3 instead?

I am torn. Hopefully Wise stays healthy and beasts.

Let’s shed no more tears for GP2, dudes. After all he went away for a meager 1 mln / year that we would have given to him if we only COULD. After all, he’s a mercenary.

Let’s enjoy the kids that are growing in our team. Maybe one day we will have another sensational defender (MM?)

Congrats to GP2, with a heavy heart but a lot of pride.

I think when we finally start actually signing guys it will help the mood around here, I know it will for me.

Ouch. Like ET ouch, my heart hurts. What a tremendous year. I think he basically represented the margin of victory in the Finals so it’s a real loss, obviously.

Also as much as I liked his defense, I think my favorite thing was his finishing. He could be right near the rim in traffic, jump with no momentum off two feet, explode straight up and get the ball on the glass so fast it took shot blocking out of the mix. Don’t think I’ve ever seen someone his size do that like that and he did it all the time.

Happy the man got paid, and hope that’s not his last nice contract. After watching Chauncey not understand how to use unique, but valuable guys like Larry Nance and RoCo I’m skeptical about how he’ll use GP2.

I’d check out MCW and Kris Dunn. See if they’re healthy. They have some recent elite defensive seasons and just have had some injury problems the last couple years. I saw another article mention Josh Okogie, and he has a similar athleticism for the offensive type role.

I too am very sad to see GP2 go, I understand the decision and congratulate him on a $28mm deal. Wow!! Total validation and life changing money - hard to not be happy for the guy. But I will miss watching him play.

Well, to go from video coordinator applicant to $28m/3yrs?! YOU GOT THE BAG Little G!! 🙌🏽 As someone below said, no one can ever be bigger or better fans of yours than we are. We got to see you out hustle your way from the G league to the 15th roster spot to playing time on the floor to then become an integral part of our lineup and even Playoff starter!! You gave us your blood and bones and left everything out on the court to help us win an odds defying Championship. You might have been the best steal of last year, or the best stealer in the game, but just know you stole our hearts with your amazing energy on and off the court and we will always love ya, even when you affectionately give us one of your cheeky patented head scratches next season...

How about the ‘Dirk Nowitzki maneuver’? I mean, if the max-ers would accept a 5 million cut each, we would be safe and sound with GP2 and Loon next season. If that is indeed possible.

Welp. Woke up to this news … bummed. GP was a joy to watch, and an advanced stats / efficiency monster. All our playoff series got a little easier with him around. But (without knowing the exact details of their revenue streams) I get why they felt they had a hard limit with every dollar being multiplied x7.

Really hope this means they’re able to dip into the MLE for Otto; and that they’re mulling some interesting defensive-minded guard-wings at the min. Losing JTA, Andre (presumably), and now GP2, they could use an infusion of perimeter D. I guess Q is supposed to be decent on that end? Anyone else?

Bummer. But it’s now MM (& perhaps QW) time. GP2 deserves huge props, as does the FO for identifying his talent.

If the Nets/Suns trade goes through, Brooklyn might actually be fun to watch with Ayton, Bridges, maybe Simmons, etc.

And I think the Suns become eminently easier to dissect in the postseason. Get it done Nets!

I don’t agree with those of you who blame the front office for GP2 departure. You should blame the NBA rules, but no, those rules make the NBA extremely balanced and exciting. In the Italian soccer league, that is economically on the same level, a team won 9 titles straight, and such lack of competition hurt badly the national team, that missed ridiculously the World Cup qualify. We have to thank those rules for all the wondrous basketball we watch all season long.
