Could have been worse with Steph’s injury

Given the timing of the All-Star Break, we shouldn’t expect to see Steph back before the end of February, missing around 5 games at least. How the Warriors endure this stretch may determine whether they miss the playoffs. If GSW can just go 2-3 and stay around .500, they will have a shot. If they tank and go 4 games under .500, that would make it a very hard road.

I’m told Stephen Curry avoided serious structural damage in his lower left knee after an MRI on Sunday. But caution, pain tolerance and an eventual return to conditioning once that pain subsides will keep the 34-year-old out at least a couple of weeks.

The Nets-Mavericks talks accelerated on a trade today, sources said. The Lakers and Nets had several conversations on a potential deal, but Nets preferred Mavs' package -- getting back a point guard and wing to plug in now plus the future picks.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison has a long history with Irving going back to their Nike days together - and Jason Kidd wanted this trade. Dallas needed a second star for Luka Doncic and gets him with Irving. Mavs can see how it goes and decide on new deal in offseason.

We went 6-5 last time Steph was out. Wiggs didn't play most of those games. Now that he is back, we should be able to go 8-3.Right?

Lol, Marc Stein reporting that Joe Tsai nixed any Kyrie trade to the Lakers because that is where he wanted to go. Get that man a special seat on the petty bus - I love it
