Land prices on Wiseman Island are skyrocketing. Believe the Hype!

Friend of DNHQ and occasional contributor Joe Viray analyzes film from J-Dub's rookie season. TLDR: JW generated over 1.3+ points per possession on pick n' roll plays with both Curry and Poole. He will dominate as the roll-man for both Curry and Poole, and as long as Kerr keeps his role simple, will be a huge plus as Looney's backup.

Not sure that it is a good sign that the brain trust at ESPN, who picked the lakers to win the west last year (!), and the nets to win the chip, now pick the warriors to go back to back. Still I guess if they didn't show any respect I would complain about that.

Neat little interview with JK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4GXYMarqFw

Not much in terms of news, but you got to see a little more into his character. He's got a couple dogs, loves them, plays some video games, and is fairly humble and soft-spoken. Nothing new.

Following the interview, there's a discussion with Monte Poole, and most of it focuses on the two questions: Will JK develop enough court awareness, and does he have the necessary work ethic?

Again, nothing new.

I couldn't wait and went looking for Nuggets game 2 as well - but of course the above link _is_ game 2 so I went and found game 1. And it was good. The tactic of exhausting the Joker was already working. Klay's jumper was very smooth. I love how much deeper this year's triumph cuts than, say, 2018. It feels like the world owes us nothing now. The dubs could start the coming season 0-10 and none of us would stop smiling. ("Our sky was unfolding. And it will never fold back" --Jackson Browne).

Another fun stat list. This time, playoff wins in the last decade.

Sacramento and Detroit don’t show up. Hard to stay a fan of a team that has won zero playoff games in the last decade. Talk about futility and hopelessness.

Great summary of part of why the Lakers failed so utterly last year. Amazing example of the insanity of doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

> Ranking the NBA’s best offseason moves by team: From Spurs to Heat, Nos. 30-21

> 22. Golden State Warriors

> 2021-22 record: 53-29; won NBA championship

> Added: G Donte DiVincenzo (two years, $9M); F JaMychal Green; F Patrick Baldwin, Jr. (first round, 28th pick overall); G Ryan Rollins (draft rights acquired from Atlanta); F Gui Santos (second round, 55th pick overall); G Lester Quinones (two-way)

> Lost: G Gary Payton II (signed with Portland); F Otto Porter Jr. (signed with Toronto); F Nemanja Bjelica (signed with Fenerbahce, Turkey); F Juan Toscano-Anderson (signed with Lakers); G Damion Lee (signed with Phoenix); F Tyrese Martin (draft rights traded to Atlanta); assistant coach Mike Brown (took Kings head coach job)

> Retained: C Kevon Looney (three years, $22.5M); G Quinndary Weatherspoon (two-way)

> Extended: None

> Returning from Injury: None

> The Skinny: A bit of brain drain for the defending champions, especially in losing Payton, who’d become the team’s Harasser-in-Chief on the perimeter and had begun to earn his keep at the other end (career-high 120 attempts from 3 last season, at nearly 36 percent). DiVincenzo could be a decent replacement for GPII – he’s probably a little better offensively, not quite as good on D. But the Dubs also got quality minutes at different points of the regular season and playoffs from Porter and Bjelica, and still need to replace them. (Stephen Curry and GM Bob Myers both seemed to throw cold water on a potential KD reunion in late July.) It could be that Golden State thinks Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody (and, maybe, James Wiseman) are ready to step in and take bigger minutes next season. But there are limits, even for the Dubs, in how much they’re willing to pay in luxury tax. It’s a net negative for now until we see if the kids are ready for more run next year.

You know who the biggest winner out of the KD drama is?

Fricking James Harden.

Seven months ago, we were thinking he is the most selfish player ever for forcing his way out of his second team in a row. Now, he looks practically mature (and prescient) when compared to Kyrie and KD.

re: KD.

I didn't realize it, but I fully agree with Timpf's take on it: KD has a very good point re: both Marks and Nash. It's just that Timpf has more details to back it up:

* Team construction outside of KD is poor. Too many old offensive vets. Need more defensive talent to back up KD and Kyrie. This is on GM.

* Coaching wise, the system was hard to play in. Was it Nash's fault? or KD/Kyrie's fault? It's complicated. I also blame Nash in no small part for the Harden situation.

* Timpf also says KD has a blind spot when it comes to Kyrie, and I agree.

* Tsai is getting pressured by other owners to not give in to KD.

* Timpf says if he were Tsai, he would fire GM, coach, but only after KD agrees that he can trade Kyrie.
