I have just finished a labor of love: a video with Steph's Olympic Night Night with TV commentary in multiple languages. I know the translation is pretty rough and inaccurate, so I will accept any corrections in the comments. Or, you can just enjoy it!
[Raymond Ritter] Interesting note: Stephen Curry has played in 1,103 NBA games in his career. And, he's made four (4) 3-pointers in the last 2:47 of an NBA game only one (1) time (Game 3 of 2015 NBA Finals). Yesterday, on the biggest stage in the Olympics, he did it again.
Standing O to the French women who played the best defense I have ever seen in a big game. The USA barely got any clean looks the entire game when they were not in the limited transitions they got.
I believe France had superior coaching and the US was very lucky they didn’t turn it over on the inbounds with about 5 secs left as they basically went half speed to get open.
I was super impressed with France and their D. I always say a coaches job is to get better shots for their team than the opponents get, and France got a lot more clean looks today than the US did.
I am not a huge fan of women’s hoops, but I really enjoyed watching France play today.
My respect for Book shot up during this run and went all the way down south for Tatum. What a diva. He was behind a still extremely effective Bron and KD on the depth chart who went on to win gold and still found a way to complain about minutes. I worry for TEAM USAs future if he’s the one leading this squad 4 years from now… #soft
Booker is a real one. I knew it after that game when Klay got ejected for tussling with him, and afterward Booker wouldn’t say a bad word against him.
As for Tatum, I actually think he could have contributed to this team, but he did seem to have trouble finding shots in this context. And while I think it’s wonderful seeing these players share their professional bball experiences with family, having a parent lobbying for more playing time is probably not the sort of thing that'll earn you a lot of respect from the old heads (even if you have nothing to do with it).
....mom's are also just gonna mom sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised if Tatum asked her not too and cringed when she lobbied for him.
It's like when I was younger and told my mom to stop asking my friends if they wanted more food. They didn't but it wasn't gonna stop her from asking 😂
From what I can tell, Tatum hasn't said a peep. His mom, yeah. I like the guy, and he has a pretty humble persona for such an elite NBA player. Not ready to be PO'd at him because of stuff others around him are saying ... for instance Lonzo Ball and his dad. Lonzo seems like a dude. His dad, well ....
I get it too. You have to have a certain amount of confidence and arrogance to be great but this dude legitimately has never had a vintage great moment in the playoffs and is still sitting here bitching about not getting run because Steve chose KD over him
I think the US entered the olympics rated 5th, so a silver is a pretty good result. Also, Italy was just better. Dominated not only the US, but everyone else, too.
Ironic. How to get down almost the entire court and take and make a shot. And she overachieved. Also I was disappointed that neither the player or coach in postgame interviews praised the French

Still salty about Steph getting jobbed out of his FMVP that series, with all due respect to Andre.
If I'm not mistaken, that is the game with the LeBron Slide Tackle, which stopped GSW from completing a frantic massive comeback
I’m watching the closing ceremony and didn’t see any of our men’s basketball players walk in with the US contingent.
We have almost 600 athletes

Glad we won the gold though.

Yeah, having your Mommy complain that the coach isn’t playing her kid is so elementary or high schoolish.
I agree. That said, for all we know Tatum may have asked his Mom to chill, and she may have spoken her mind anyway.
There's some AI deep fake stuff going around that's pretty scary shit. It pretty much nails Kerr's voice, and Curry, Tatum, and Lebron's.

I don’t recall Tatum complaining, although there were certainly a lot of people doing so for him.

Most of that quote is fine until the humbling part. Understandable from a human perspective but you got benched for KD you’re not better than him

That 50 ball against Philly was front runner activities by the way
40 gold medals apiece for the US and China. But US takes number one spot with 126 overall medals.
So the women’s volleyball team, the prohibitive favorite, loses to Italy and also fails to put the US on top of China in the gold medal count.
I dunno about prohibitive favorite, if you watched the tournament Italy was clearly the best team, by a mile. I think they only dropped one set…
Yep you’re right. I stand corrected. They were the favorites coming in to the Olympics and even more coming into this match

Pretty great finish, hope Gabby Williams isn't killing herself over that step beyond the line - she was great otherwise
Yeah...became a Williams fan today
Not gonna lie didn’t tune in thinking the women were going to 30 piece the French. Im 0-2 in my ‘30-pieced’ predictions in these Olympics 🙃
What a finish
USA WBB looks… just exhausted and relieved.
Wild finish!
Random painful ending. It's like neither team had any awareness of the situation.
Congrats USA women! But man, that was a tough watch.
OMG
Saved by a foot on the line lol
Holy moley, it doesn’t get any closer than that. A foot away from overtime.
