Okay okay, I opened up a new thread. See you there!

Been meaning to ask: In preparation for these games, did KD learn enough French to say, “Call the fuckin’ foul, bitch ass muthafucka!”?

Expand full comment

Interesting how many really nasty swear expressions have something pejorative about females. One exception seems to be Italian: go stick it up your ass. Presumably that ‘ass’ could be male or female and is only pejorative to a certain kind of equine.

You mean that's not French?

Pardon his French!

Man I don't know crap about FIBA rules because on that KD 3 where AD got fouled I thought we were just going to get a FT but we got possession and Book hit that 3 to pull us within 5. That was huge

Not sure I've ever appreciated Lebron more than this game. He's had better games, but he just drove at guys and played Jokic super tough in the 4th. At 39.

Anybody know why we only got 14s on the clock after Bogey's backcourt violation? That was a critical time... having an additional 10s to run off and/or get an actual play going would have been useful. It really seemed like LeBron was surprised by the shot clock too... which is why there wasn't even a single play run.

Kerr saved that LeBron guarding Jokic trump card until when he really needed it, can't do it too early cause that is an absolute beating to take

Joker with a 30lb advantage on Bron and was barely able to back him down. That's a strong ass MF

LeBron was a beast guarding Jokic. SRB knew it too and their whole offense down the stretch was screens to force Durant to switch onto Jokic.

Also I thought Serbia was doing a great job blowing up the inverted LeBron/Curry PnR at the end I thought by being really physical with Curry and not letting him get to his spot to screen, but I don't have the eye for it really so I'm curious to see your take on the crunch time offense eventually

Definitely, Serbia blew up plays with rhino-style defense just gumming up the screeners getting to the spots. There was one memorable LeBron-Steph-KD split cut where Serbia just wrestled everyone from moving... I don't remember the ending... it might have been the KD long 2 play...

I could be wrong but didn't they also do some funny thing where LBJ started on another player knowing that if SRB ran their action, LBJ would just end up on Jokic?

Just like with Draymond

100%

Looney is the Embiid lol

Expand full comment

With shooting and scoring lol

Bogdanavic with 20 points that felt like 38

Expand full comment

Warrior front office watched that game and decided they found their trade target to get a second option lol

Expand full comment

I’ve always liked him. Seems like a great fit, though not a 2nd option.

Expand full comment

He was sooooo good.

Expand full comment

but talked a little too much shit with a lot of game left haha oops

He was really good, though

Expand full comment

As long as it didn't earn a T it wasn't too much, and he earned it with his play. Left it all out on the floor.

Expand full comment

No problem with him celebrating after clutch shots. Just felt he was chirping a bit too long, even led to delaying the next inbounds a couple times and seemed like even the refs were telling him to chill haha

Expand full comment

Eh, both sides were talking shit throughout.

Expand full comment

Yeah but Bogdanavic was a lil extra with it...it wasn't like a quick shit talk and move on, he kept dragging it out and yelling far past the play

Expand full comment

Lebron doing “too small” down 12 leaves all shit talk fair game.

Expand full comment

People are just misunderstanding me. I have no problem with talking shit. But talk your shit and move on. Bogdonovic just talked a little too long a few times, it even delayed the subsequent inbounds

Expand full comment

In the first three games, Steph was just letting everyone else have their flowers since they were blowouts. But in the game that they were fighting for their lives, Steph said ‘I am taking over’.

Expand full comment

Gotta know better than to taunt Team USA players man

Expand full comment

This is why I didn't get making fun of LeBron for talking shit when they were down, that's what a real competitor does, they don't let the score dictate their confidence

Expand full comment

I knew Bron and Steph was going to have something to say about that

Expand full comment

I don't really equate talking to confidence so maybe that's why.

Expand full comment

Eric saving his love for us till the Gold Medal game, I think.

haha, I've been debating whether to open up a post-game thread

I am SO happy for Steph to have this breakout game at the olympics, plus...weaponized joy baby!

S/O Embiid with a huge 8/11 line, including 7 straight midway through the 4th quarter to knock the lead down to 4.

Expand full comment

Yep, he was great, full stop.

Expand full comment

That was a lot of fun to watch, despite the frustrating plays at times.

Also, congrats to Serbia on an epic, fearless game. Excellent defense, and a lot of no conscience shot making.

Expand full comment

I think Serbian coach could have handled better last quarter, even losing. Too many faults beginning and Jokic out of gasoline. Players nothing to say, they played like lions

Expand full comment

Really great game

Hail to the almighty, Stephen Curry!!!
