I was reading a comment about trading Steph to a contender, it makes so much sense...

To me , Curry is the best basketball player of all time, He deserves to be happy for the rest of his NBA carreer and maybe The Warriors doesn’t have to offer that anymore.

Klay needs at least 1 more year to be ok, Dray doesn’t play well since 2019 finals, the team is full of (not the best) young players...

As i said, i just want that Curry be happy forever.

Merry Christmas.

Excuse me, english is not my first language 😊

It’s the season to get excited about wisemen turning up and all , but Chriss looked great in his time with Curry and was very very productive in his minutes without detracting from Curry. I was really worried about Chriss after the preseason, but it’s pretty clear he should get more run with Curry than everyone besides Green at this point.

Ok I’ve been trying not to, but I just have to put this out there (bring on the flack):

The offense reminds me of an 8th grade girls team that I coached where we had one great ball handler who understood the game and no one else had ever played before. The most complicated offense we could run in the first half of the season was standing around the three point line and occasionally cutting.

I don’t believe Kerr wants to play average to bad 3 point shooters in a 5 out system. It looks like the basketball IQ they have gathered on the roster is a far cry from the Bogut, Iguodala, Lee, Livingston, Green, Barnes, Curry, Klay group Kerr started with. Those vets knew the game extremely well, and the youth were all very smart and two of them are legacies. This roster isn’t like that.

I researched the whole first half and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Curry played great in the first quarterhe was aggressive and got people wide open looks.

Wiggins and oubre missed wide open threes and point blank layups while KD and kyrie we're cooking. The second unit wasn't that bad either but wiggins really messed it up with some bad turnovers.

There was a point when the second unit cut the lead to 11 and had momentum, then we had back to back horrific turnovers which both lead to threes, after that the nets had all the momentum.

I'm optimistic about this team.

Justinian Jessup. In case anyone is interested or missed this, here is what's happening with him. https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/12/22/warriors-draft-pick-dazzles-in-debut-in-australia/

Off-topic, but what the heck is going on with the Blazers? They're losing to the Jazz by a lot.

Can we get rid of Smiley now? Warriors must re-tool their bench.

I know Kerr has taken some criticism over the last few years but I can appreciate the man's ability to talk cryptically about how he feels about the team and the season: With the latest coming in the form of him saying that it may take awhile for him to settle on a consistent rotation. I'm sure everyone will have their own interpretation of things but I think Kerr knows that after being off for so long and Klay going down that a good portion of this season will just be extended training camp just like he knew early on last year that that team was abysmal. Whether that translates to making the playoffs is an entirely different matter. I don't believe so but I cant get a feel whether Kerr himself believes he's got the personnel this year for it or not.

One way that COVID is going to negatively affect the Warriors is that the Wolves are going to get to play a greater proportion of Eastern Conference teams with only 72 games which will boost their record and all the bad East teams are going to play a greater proportion of Western Conference teams which will hurt their records.

Probably crazy idea but hear me out:

We should trade Steph to a contender of his choice (i.e. do NOT sign off without Steph's blessing).

What's in it for Steph: Chance to spend his final years on a contender and win more titles.

What's in it for the Warriors: An instant rebuild with Wiseman + 2 lottery picks in a loaded 2021 draft + assets we get for Steph.

I don't care if we have to accept a subpar package, we owe it to Steph to send him to a place where he can win.

Zion looks beefy but the Pels broadcast says he's lost weight. My dark horse for MVP.

Two more Wiseman observations:

1. On his two coast-to-coast trips (both the charge and the drawn foul), I really like how low he gets in his dribble while still moving down the court quickly. He sort of naturally hunches his upper body over when he runs, but also gets a pretty good bend at the hips and knees.

2. Speaking of his hips, his supposed lack of lateral movement looked way overblown and he looked pretty light on his feet. Because of his size and length, he’s never gonna move like Bam or Okongwu, but I’m not if there’s ever been a true 7+ footer who moves like Wiseman. (Olajuwon, AD, KD and KG are all under 7’).

A nice piece of perspective, Daniel! On the game thread I said if given the choice of only one, I’d much prefer Wiseman looking real deal over a win. He not only showed immense promise, but looked much further along than I think most of us thought. A couple of nit picks:

-He looks huge standing next to others, but in motion or away from others, his athleticism makes him actually more like Wiggins’ size.

- His pick setting needs some work. Looks like he’s rushing to set the pick and defenders have too much time to avoid it. Should be better as he gets used to it.

- The really deep twos looked pretty, but I hope he gets better at feeling where the line is to gain effiency

- I hope he starts using his size to his advantage more. He sometimes looked like he didn’t know his own strength and avoided contact on offense, defense and boxing out. (He might’ve taken some elbows to the ribs in the first half, because he seemed a little more gun-shy in the 2nd.)

It’s gonna so much fun watching this man develop!

I put a lot of this loss on Oubre and Wiggins. They weren't the only guys who underperformed, but they had a lot of important minutes and shots that they totally flubbed on both ends of the court, which set the tone for the rest of the team.

On the one hand... you know what? I'm still really happy that basketball is back! On the other hand, my enthusiasm will temper very quickly if Warriors basketball is consistently this ugly.

That was painful to watch last night, and I will regret my league pass subscription if that is the brand of ball we have to watch this year. I can't remember a Warriors team looking that bad in a long, long time. It's hard not to panic about the state of the team when they look so unprepared, overmatched and outworked. I can take the losing, but the lack of competitiveness is a major concern going forward. Even if they play up to their potential, what is this team's ceiling? Even just qualifying for the playoffs seems like a massive reach.

I think we can officially retire the "Strength In Numbers" mantra. Missing Dray and Klay is obviously huge, but the rest of the roster isn't up to the task.

There are so many issues to fix. Kerr has his work cut out for him, and I question whether he is the right coach for this roster. Kerr was perfect when there were veteran players with high IQs and motors, but the roster is devoid of that now. This is an extremely young and inexperienced team that looks lottery-bound.

As doom-and-gloom as last night was, there is a silver lining. Wiseman looks legit and will only get better. His ceiling is sky-high. Watching him develop may be the only saving grace for this season. Also, that top-20 protected pick from the Oubre trade is virtually guaranteed to not be conveyed this year. The Warriors look to potentially have two high lottery picks in a loaded 2021 draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors end up with the worst record in the NBA again this year.
