Lester Quinones pours in 26 points, talks about the mental game and impressing Steve Kerr
Podziemski can't shoot, still nearly gets the third triple-double in Summer League history

Pelicans 94, Warriors 86
Lester Quinones continues to be the rock. His confident controlled driving and three point shooting settles the game down for everyone. (Even though LQ went on an extended heat check tonight that let NOP back into the game, but nobody’s perfect.)
I think there is a chance that he will be so impressive in Summer League that some team tries to Ty-Jerome him and make him a contract offer that GSW literally cannot match (anything over 120% of minimum).
Quinones talks about the mental game after Game 2
I feel like the biggest thing for me right now is the mental aspect of my game, kind of just gaining that trust from Steve. And just really doing the little things that I can see that kind of just irks him…. Being a younger guy I don’t have as long of a leash. Just really locking in on those things that I could just do to complement me with looking forward to playing with the Golden State Warriors in the future.
And I really just had it in my head here, in the moment. Just being out there on the floor and being in positions, in spots where Steve is going to want me, and kind of just really mastering those. And getting that to a T.
It would mean the world [being on the Warriors]. Being around those guys late in the postseason and going through the playoffs with them, it was just amazing to kind of be around there.
For myself, growing up watching them all my life, really. Being a Warriors fan, I've been watching Steph playing with Draymond for the past 10 years. So to actually get a chance to eventually be a part of them would just be an amazing opportunity.
I'm just locking in on film. Just mastering my game to complement playing with those guys versus doing things that they kind of don't need while they're out there doing everything they need to do.
A few in-game notes
Running a little behind but I’m amused that NOP Coach Willie Green, ex-Warrior coach, ran The Klay Play for Hawkins Q2.0.30.
As I watch Podz brick some makeable shots, I think the hustling on the boards and in defensive rotation is very nice. The court vision is good though a couple of early TOs from not reading the D right.
I have a rough time watching some of Podz’s overaggressive closeouts and odd defensive positioning to allow straight line drives to the basket.
GSWSL is running a lot more Kerrball motion offense than before and don’t look that bad doing it. LQ and Jayce and Gui know it from SL so Podz is getting the hang of it pretty quickly.
I picked Hawkins over Podz in the Tourney, but watching this game… Hawkins is pretty passive when he’s not running off screens for a shot.
I’m not crazy about all these charges, but Podz is showing a lot of hustle and giving up his body. The last charge he took had GP2 and Steph yelling I think encouragement
Ohhh it was overturned on challenge. Boooo
First bad body language thing I noticed from Podz… he was open on a basketball cut and Jayce didn’t pass it. Some exasperation there. Otherwise, not as noticeable tonight.
LQ hit a few threes in the first half and now he is hoisting a bunch of heat checks. Ooof.
End of Q3, looked to me like they ran The Klay Play alt version, with #21 Kalscheur cutting baseline for a double screen. (GSW ran this for Poole a few times last year.) But Podz hadn’t learned the play yet so he just guessed and came up to set a second screen (for the ball and not the baseline as he should have). Not a bad improv.
Who is this Brockington and why is he twice as fast as everyone else
Figures...Just when we pick up CPAUL, the NBA delivers a flopping rule....lol Harden is about to lose half of his game, also...
I wonder if Jay Huff will take a 2 way contract. If not Kaminsky looks like the only big man option left on the FA market that would make sense for us. Winslow and JTA would be good options too as far as wings goes. After that I'd rather take a chance on an undrafted guy TBH.
