Kuminga and Moody's ascensions steady Dubs in big win over Raptors
We really hit the lottery with those young players, eh?
Look alive ladies and gents. The Golden State Warriors have won 8 of their last 10 contests, including three in a row. They have a winning record both at home (16-15) and on the road (16-12). And after last night’s jetlagged, gritty 120-105 win over the Toronto Raptors on the second night of a back to back, we can officially see that the Dubs are activating a resilience borne of their championship DNA.
There’s 23 games left in the season and it’s time to turn it up.
All my casual Dub Nation supporters who don’t tune in until the playoffs approach, it’s time to start checking those boxscores a little bit more frequently. And all my die-hards who normally watch every game but couldn’t take the nightly depression from back-to-back nauseous regular season experiences, it’s time to get your nightly fix of weaponized joy again.
And to all my die-hards out there still running with the Warriors in NBA 2K to try and unlock Jonathan Kuminga’s athleticism in the virtual world and beat Steve Kerr to the punch of figuring out how to truly unleash the 3rd year baller, I’ve got some news for you: Kuminga and Kerr are figuring it out together.
We’re now in March, which means that the basketball season is about to wind down in the next six weeks, and the playoff die shall be cast. These games matter a lot for teams jostling for playoff positioning, or those trying to bottom out and tank for a high draft pick. The Warriors are scratching and fighting their way into the former category, with their coaches, vets, and young hoopers all learning difficult lessons on the way.
This is the one year where I can firmly say the Warriors have not proven that they’ve figured out how to be an elite team.
I can also say that that’s a scary thing for the rest of the league: half the NBA has been down double-digits to the Dubs in a game this year, what if the Warriors actually start closing games in professional fashion??? #wegonebechampionship
But I digress.
Hey did you know the Warriors have been starting their 2021 lottery picks Kuminga and Moses Moody? Yeah, with Andrew Wiggins on personal leave, and Klay Thompson’s role transitioning to more reserve opportunities, Coach Kerr is playing Moody more. #2TIMELINES
Moody scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and added 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and blocks. This guy has a smooth shooting stroke combined with a physical edge where you can tell he wants to throw his weight around on the court and make opponents feel his presence. He’s also very competitive and takes pride on the defensive end.
Speaking of physical presence, this guy Kuminga has two or three plays every game where he overwhelms someone with pure force around the basket and sneers at them as if THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO TRY HIM. His confidence is growing by leaps and bounds.
Yep, this team is gelling into something that’s entertaining and heartwarming. But they better bring more than that to the table if they really wanna make some noise in this year’s playoffs.
FYI E1P coming at 7pm
Thankful for the Joker-Murray Tsunami that hit the Cal coast in the 4th quarter, drowned the Lolakers 4gm-win-streak, and, hung another loss on them. Also, a grateful second-place appreciation award to Houston for longer-term DUB objectives-assistance, as ROCKETS admirably succeeded in eclipsing the SUNS, in PHOENIX...Now, let's break a Celtic 10g-win-streak....GO WARRIORS!
