missed the game last night & decided to watch the first quarter

interesting to me how Klay got going attacking the hoop (and even finishing contested layups!)

the three point barrage started midway through the quarter

Zach Lowe and Kevin Pelton just dropped a podcast with their “almost quarter-mark MVPs.” Since they’re both really smart dudes, I’m not even a little surprised they both nailed #1. :-)

Pelton:

5. Durant

4. SGA (!)

3. Tatum

2. Doncic

1. Curry

Lowe:

5. Giannis

4. Durant

3. Tatum

2. Doncic

1. Curry

Jokic and Embiid missed both lists; Giannis missed Pelton’s list (was actually #8 after his top 5, Jokic and Donovan Mitchell) and barely made Zach’s.

Klay’s high catch and stroke is a thing of beauty.

Ugh. I know resting guys is important but it's annoying early on in the season when we're trying to get something going. Don't feel as comfortable with the B team since they're still trying to figure things out themselves so outside of a miracle this is a scheduled loss.

Stephen Curry On Why Game 4 In Boston Mattered So Much To Him | JJ Redick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpde7-mZT98

Our guest this week is the greatest shooter of all time and one of our favorite players ever, Stephen Curry. We are not exaggerating when we say this is an all-time episode. We cover SO much in his career and to be honest, I'm not sure there's ever been more laughter in an episode. We're excited to share it first thing tomorrow morning! In this particular clip, Steph explains why he was so emotional in Game 4 of The 2021 NBA Finals between The Golden State Warriors and The Boston Celtics and why he calls it his "favorite game of his career."

Seems like, to win games, right now atleast one of Steph or Dray needs to be in every single lineup. But that reduces the minutes they play together which is a travesty. A healthy and just a bit bouncy Andre would have helped (stabilize 2nd unit instead of needing Dray). Oh well! Can't have it all.

"Poole is better than Klay right now"? 🤣. What were these talking media smoking? Like they didn't see last playoffs

I listened to the game on the radio stream yesterday because it was no screens day in our house. Love Tim and Jim! I feel no negatives at all about that victory. After going 0-8 on the road, that is a pretty big hump to get over. And Klay, Steph and Wiggs were all fantastic on the same day. This is what I live for as a Dubs fan. There is an expiration date on all of this manna they are giving us. But it is not today, and it is not this year. WGBC!

According to the fantasy labs site: No Steph, Dray or Klay tonight. Wiggins and Loon are questionable.

Anthony Slater talked this morning about rest expectations for this game. I understand why the Warriors might like to rest Steph in particular, but I would be shocked if they do, because this is the Warriors' 2nd of two games @New Orleans and the NBA hates when teams rest star players when it's the only trip or the last trip for that team in that city. Unless Steph came out with a real complication like a sore X or stiff Y I expect him to play, probably Draymond as well. I would expect Klay to sit as they seem unlikely to play him on back-to-backs probably ever again, with maybe an exception in the playoffs.

I enjoy the Warriors shooting threes, especially the Splash Bros.. So theoretically, I should have enjoyed this game more than any other in Warrior history. Somehow, I did not.

On to even more irrelevant matters. Did you see that moment in Dallas when they replayed the last two seconds of the first half at the start of the second half, with the teams having returned from halftime. Luka's last second three from the first half had been ruled out of bounds and therefore time put on the clock, so Denver hit a half court three themselves, celebrated it awkwardly to "end" the half, and then play began seconds later for the third quarter. I squirmed for some reason. It felt like Thanksgiving in May. You just don't do it. By the way, the reason the refs didn't just have the teams play the last seconds over again *before* leaving for the halftime locker rooms was that, and I quote, "...the 'Simon Says' halftime act was making its way on the court." Now there's an act I gotta catch.

Is it a little gross that they had to dig so deep for a win against Houston, especially after that first quarter? Sure. But I'll worry about that later. For now I'm just so, so happy for Klay.

For a team that's losing this much, the Rockets have some interesting pieces. Personally, my favorite is Eason, whom I remember from draft season as a guy with a pretty compelling profile. Feels like every year there are a lot of the 3&D wings who don't actually have particularly great size, or for whom the 3 and/or the D are mostly theoretical. But that guy rebounds like a 4, shoots like a wing, and seems capable of defending multiple positions. All at a legit 6-8, with a 7-2 wingspan and giant Kawhi-Leonard hands.
