Kings fall to Warriors as Klay Thompson delivers another game winner against them
Stephen Curry has received a lot of the attention for daggering the Kings recently, but Splash Bros never splash alone. That’s why it was only right Klay Thompson was the latest Dub to hit those pesky Kings with a game winner, as the Warriors won 102-101.
This had to hit hard for Kings fans who keep spending 3 hours a night thinking they might get a win over their Pacific division rival only to get that jarring fourth quarter disappointment right before bed.
In five years they will all be retired?! Not Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody!
Anyways, that was Golden State’s first win at Chase this Center, moving the team’s overall record to 4-1.
Mr. Thompson is looking spry after those horrific leg injuries a few years ago, and a reminder that he’s a red-alert threat for any defense when he gets his hands on the ball. I pulled up a YouTube video of Klay’s top game winners, and wouldn’t you know this isn’t the first time he’s hit Sacramento with a killshot?
March 6th, 2013: Thompson’s shot leads Warriors past Kings
Here’s official Warriors FanCam angle here to capture the great experience from Oracle back when the Splash Bros were young and seeds of hope were growing. You can feel the exuberance from that loyal Dub Nation contingent back then as Klay was first getting his feet wet with this game winner stuff. Check out this quote from Klay following that game:
Thompson, had never hit a game-winning shot in the NBA.
“Didn’t know it’d come this time around. But if you want to be a great player in this league, you can’t have a conscience,” said Thompson, who finished 6 for 17 from the floor. “I’ve learned a lot this year. I’ve missed some big shots. Hopefully this is a building block. I’ve learned you just got to play free out there and let it go when you’re open.”
Oh it was a building block indeed Klay, because you’re gonna light them up a few more times.
November 24th, 2018: Klay sinks Kings in last season of the KD-era
Remember Golden State’s superteam era? So much starpower with Curry and Keivn Durant that sometimes Thompson seemed like an afterthought in the star hierarchy in the NBA? Yeah Klay was still cooking with gas, as the Kings found out in winning time.
Here’s some more Klay game winners to keep you content until he laces them up again tomorrow.
