Is it time for the Warriors to trade for Hassan Whiteside??
Golden State may have to pull the trigger with the trade deadline looming...or just be patient since they have the 2nd best record in the league.
THE TRADE DEADLINE IS TODAY AT NOON (Pacific time)!
I used to be a guy who scanned the trade deadline options feverishly. This was before Kevin Durant came and the Dubs sealed a dynasty. Since then, I’ve nestled into a cozy trust of the Golden State Warriors’ front office, something I could have never imagined during the “HOW COULD THEY TRADE MONTA ELLIS?!” phase of my fandom.
I figure they’re spending way more hours researching and discussing ways to fix the team than I am, and they’re probably sober when they’re doing it, unlike me. But last night in the 111-85 loss to the Utah Jazz, ye olde trade machine in my brain began to crank alive after several dormant years because I saw a backup big man dominate Golden State. And in any conversation with a Dub Nation member, inevitably it will come up that the Warriors lack big man depth.
The Jazz showed us the answer to the problem: ACQUIRE HASSAN WHITESIDE AT ALL COSTS. He had 9 points, 17 rebounds, and 7 blocks last night.
And here’s Whiteside’s shot chart for his dominant night:
Those could be OUR green circles close to the rim symbolizing a made bucket! Joe Lacob and Bob Myers, you know what to do. I don’t know what the salary cap numbers are to make it work AND I DON’T GIVE A DAMN. Leave that up to the nerds, it’s time to step and get this guy!
Or just wait for All-Star Draymond Green and 2021 #2 pick James Wiseman to get healthy, either way I’ll still support kthxbye.
The Dubs continue to disregard their need for another big guy. This can really only mean one thing, that they are all in on Wiseman, or that no one wants Wiseman. As 3D said, the Warriors don't need Chiozza. That decision, made before this season started, to sign Chiozza, is and was the achilles heel of the Dubs. If Looney goes down, there is no one to give us anything near what he gives us each game. While Bjelica has size, he's a limited player. I like him, but he's really not a rim protector, only a stretch big guy with a 3 point shot. We've got plenty of other 3 point guys but no size for the paint. The Warriors look like a team that is glued to the floor. Is waiting for Wiseman, wise?
I'm with you Daniel on a 3rd big-big...lol...been there since the beginning of the season, preferably a serviceable vet...I think Wiseman is a keeper...I also think we undid the Dynasty when we brought KD on, but, that is another story....
