This was a harder one for me. Both have some iconic aspects to them, but nothing that really sticks out. My decision ultimately came down to the difficulty of the dunk itself.
If you remove the defender, which dunk would technically be more difficult? I think HB's dunk was more skillful overall (whereas JTA's was more powerful/athletic). Even adding back in the defender, HB had to beat his man off the dribble, and then go up and under to avoid the challenge completely. He skillfully beat his man on the play.
JTA's dunk can be described as athletic and powerful. Jumped really high, threw it down hard, hoped that McGee couldn't block it. Impressive? Yes. But definitely much more about strength and power than craftiness and skill.
When it comes to a decision between raw athleticism vs. craftiness and skill I tend to prefer the latter. Therefore, I am going with HB for this one.
So, Ty Jerome. I watched the highlights (shockingly he tied every other highlight film with 100% shooting). Any insight into his defense and/or why he was still available?
Yea he was pretty amazing. His 3 point stroke was very graceful and his release point is absurdly high. Plus deadly around the basket. I love the defensive swats. Also so very young and skinny, so he will have to learn a lot. Still, I’m pretty excited to see what he does in the NBA!
Really feels like Wembanyama is either going to be the future of the league or flame out quickly because of body issues (injuries and/or just never putting on enough muscle to really be able to bang with bigger bodies (not that he would necessarily NEED to, but likely does to reach his ceiling).
Has there been a player hyped up this much pre-draft since LeBron? Not that I can remember.
He shot the heck out of the ball and looked pretty dominant... but he also fouled out, and wouldn't we be complaining if a Warriors center only pulled down 4 rebounds in 32 minutes?
I’m still Team Scoot all the way (may be on a deserted island after tonight’s performance by Victor and it was all time banger for sure). Scoot is electric. But I also thought Chet was the best player in last years draft so yeah
Scoot was amazing, looked like pre-injury Baron Davis out there.
EDIT: To give credit to Baron, he was an unbelievable passer, I need to see more out of Henderson to put him on that level but he has the handle, power, athleticism, and presumably a better outside shot.
Two Ty Jerome videos. The first is this highlight real and he looks like a Kerr-ball guy who’s at least competent enough that he can keep garbage time focused on sound GSW bball. https://youtu.be/Bl7tvIJLrSg
Next up, his post-practice press availability: https://youtu.be/5y_cxqGCovw Really interesting when asked what parts of his game will get him on a path to regular time in the league, “Shooting, decision-making, being a leader, team defense and being a winning basketball player.”
I haven't really been keeping up with the Dubs in recent weeks and thought Ty Jerome was another name for Jerome Robinson. This is a completely different guy hahaha
Kerr emphasized his size — a “legit 6’6”” — as did alc. The Dubs have 2 shoot-first PG’s in Curry and JP3 who work well playing SG. It’s helpful if they can be paired with a bigger PG, like Livingston. We’ll see if TJ can make it work.
He's got Jerome penciled into the 15th spot and says that this signing is his favorite of the off-season -- presumably ahead of DDV. That's saying something.
This one is tough. JTA's force is so strong in his, but he also had a clean runway to get a nice running start. Barnes took his man off the dribble in the half-court setting and reverse-flushed it over him, while his body was moving away from the basket. Because of the difficulty, I will go with HB's.
#FIFTEEN. The Barnes dunk was great, but JTA goes straight into the lion's den, and JaVale is ready for him. It's a good contest by an athletic shot blocker, and OGJ just throws it down on him.

He’s an intangibles guy.
Just the way we like em.

Loon and Decky coaching Wise on rebounding.
Watching Wembanyama play feels like an out of body experience. How is this guy a real person.

Zion?
That's the only one that comes to mind

Did you watch the game? Complain? About that performance? That shit was transcendent lol.
> Wembanyama finishes with 7 three-pointers and 5 blocks, something that's only happened once in NBA history

There's a case to be made that the Warriors just trade everyone and tank for this kid
Victor sans victories? Nay I say!
Nice as the Barnes dunk was...
#15 JTA over Javale for sure!! Loved it when it happened and still do!!

Add a # so it counts
#15!
Alc loves the McClung/Jerome swap:

Holy shit, watching the whole thing now. Alc LOVES Jerome. Compares him to Shaun Livingston. And … Luka. 😂

True. But he has T-rex arms. How is that going to work?

Hmmm...we already have Brazilian Luka waiting in the wings. Two Lukas?
Does Alc not do his hilarious game highlights commentary anymore? I really miss those
Yeah after reviewing the tape I got to go with #2. JK did something like that last year that I thought was even better but this is still just nasty.
#FIFTEEN. What Abaddon said.
Public service announcement that regular season starts two weeks from today.
Good — I want our guys’ body clocks to be fully reacclimated.
#FIFTEEN
Extra points for JaVale being such a good sport about it.
Santa Clara over Duke was it? #Fifteen

#FIFTEEN. This is dunk purity.
