Quick Update: Saric signs with GSW at last
Free agent forward Dario Saric has agreed to a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors, …
Saric, who played with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns a year ago, had been one of the most sought-after players left on the market. At 6-foot-10, Saric gives the Warriors size and shooting off their bench.
Saric has fully recovered from an ACL injury that cost him the entire 2020-2021 season.
Now back to regularly scheduled Gui
Gui Santos is the new God of Chaos
Gui Santos filled up the box score and led GSW scoring with a line of 25-7-2-2, +0 +/-. This followed a nice Game 2 box score (18 PTS, 5 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL in 27 MIN, game-high +32).
He passed the eye test too with his hustle and energy affecting the game throughout. He still has a kind of awkwardness to his movements, ending up in weird positions at weird angles, which means he needs to prove his consistency before getting an NBA role. I call him the God of Chaos, an honorable title that I have occasionally assigned through the years to outstanding players whose plays are unpredictable and tend to end up, for better or worse, in some weird outcome you’ve rarely seen before.
2014-2016. Leandro Barbosa
2016-2018. JaVale McGee
2018-2020. None… to be completely honest it was probably Steph
2020-2021. Kent Bazemore
2021-2023. Jordan Poole
2023-2024. TBA
Gui Santos talked about his new strength after Game 2:
On getting stronger
This summer for me I have working really, really hard. I was at the gym like every every day working like on my body, working on my all my technical stuff. And now I show that here like, I can see how I'm feeling better and playing, I can see like how the things is going on, like easily for me. So I'm really glad to see that all the work that I put in is really, really working.
Every time that I'm driving to the basket…. I feel like last year when the guys bumped me I was falling, but this time I bumped them and like I'm not falling. I don't know if they fall or not. But I'm still like in balance to finish or to find passes. I can feel really, really stronger than last year.
That's one thing that I always have. I like to drive, I like to find passes. Especially because the basketball that I played before I came here, we have to play like that. We got to share the ball. We got to drive and kick. So I translate that for any NBA game. I feel like I'm good. Like I can pass it. I can drive. If they leave me open. I can shoot so I'm feeling really good.
On playing with Podziemski
Brandin, you guys can see he got a lot of talent. He's a nice shooter. He's a nice playmaker. And he can be a guide to help the Warriors for sure. I'm really excited about him. I liked him. I was talking to him. He's a good guy. He sounds like a good guy. And he looks like a good guy too. So I'm really excited about him. I'm just 21 but be there to try to help him and like make him get better.
Most important lesson from first year
Most important thing I learned last year: do what I do well. Like you don't need to do like all this stuff to be to be a guy to play in the NBA. You got to do what you know to do like really, really, really well.
