Snap. Great detail. Obviously, Rudy Gay would fit seamlessly onto the team, but he has always been out of our price range and I'm not sure the Warriors are the sure-fire ring chaser bet just yet. GS will get a lot more consideration this year, but might not be able to cash in. I think the need in the front court is greater than most think considering Paschall hasn't carved out a specific role and JTA, who can play the 4, maybe should be logging in more minutes at the 3. Once upon a time, Draymond lobbied for M Chriss in training camp and we said goodbye to Alfonso. Chriss doesn't have any specialty other than having good skills across the board. With a young Wiseman & the defensive magician Looney, Chriss would add that 3rd big that brings a little versatility and would round out the skill set at the center position. I still believe the loss of Chriss last year was completely glossed over and it severely impacted Wiseman's season as well as Paschall's. If I'm Bob Meyers, I am bringing Chriss back, who knows the system, who can just give me good minutes in any lineup and insurance in case of injuries. Most people believe we need 1. A floor spacing big who can hit 3s and 2. a Veteran Big who can help in clutch minutes a help mentor Wiseman.

But, between Wiseman & Chriss (potentially), wouldn't we already have the floor spacing bigs?

And we have Ron Adams, Draymond & Looney. Do we seriously need a veteran to help mentor Wiseman?

Having a center rotation of Wiseman, Looney, Chriss, Green & Paschall, a PF rotation of Green, Paschall, JTA, Chriss then get another combo forward at 7 or 14 or a Vet Minimum FA and what's not to like? The variety of skill sets with this group and the ability to mix and match would be awesome.

For our fourteenth pick, would be awesome if we could draft someone with Jrue Holiday-potential, who was drafted 17... Really enjoyed this video on Jrue Holiday’s defense: https://youtu.be/8jci4T5bjfI

Have we heard any updates about Damion Lee's post-COVID status? With how bad his symptoms apparently were, I'm still worried about the chance that there's some lingering long-term hit to his stamina or something like that. Based on his Twitter he's in good spirits and has been watching plenty of BBall on TV but I didn't see any videos or comments about him hitting the gym or playing pick-up games or anything like that.

This has been an excellent series. As someone who does not keep close tabs on much of the league, this stuff is gold. Thank you!

Blake Griffin would be awesome, but I think he is going to stay with the Nets. Maybe with Kahwi out next year, the Dubs have a real shot at Batum, unless Batum decides he wants money. Rudy Gay is fine too. Any vet you can get on the free agent market is a welcome addition. Warriors are in salary cap hell, I am assuming other teams can just outbid or match the Dubs, so the Vet really has to want to play for the Warriors to join the team. So not optimistic the Dubs can get a top free agent vet. Heck, Warriors probably would be glad if they can just keep Bazmore at a reasonable salary.

I won't be holding my breath waiting for Beal or any other star player we desire because I don't think there is enough Warrior assets to make it happen. Maybe if the Warriors had another top 5 pick in the draft there might be a glimmer of hope but it's not easy to duplicate a player like Beal for Washington and it would be wiser for them to build around him. This reminds me of the Giannis fixation that many fans had a while ago. More fantasy than reality. Maybe if those players were disgruntled it would be a different story. If anything is going to happen, I would think it would be moving up or down in the draft and an exchange of a player(s). We need this draft to yield some talent for us moving forward.

[The Athletic] Curry , Klay and Draymond told Warriors management to consider using their two lottery picks to trade for an immediate contributor . Warriors GM said their goal this offseason is to add more of the veteran presence with Beal and Siakam being of their list.

Source: https://theathletic.com/2723446/2021/07/22/sources-bradley-beal-tops-warriors-wishlist-should-he-want-out-of-washington/

The Warriors’ trio of stars — Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson — have made it clear to management they want the franchise to focus on the pursuit of a championship, even to consider using their two lottery picks to get someone who can help immediately, sources confirmed. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said their goal this offseason is to add more of a veteran presence.

Beal, who finished runner up to Curry for the scoring title, would significantly bolster the talent and explosiveness on the roster. He’s a preferred target over the Raptors’ Pascal Siakam, who has been a rumored option for Golden State. Beal would give the Warriors shooting and another offensive creator — two elements they need badly to take the pressure off Curry. One of the best scorers in the league, Beal can also carry the team should Curry have to miss some time.

One team source did say the Warriors wouldn’t be quite willing to gut the roster to acquire Beal. If they could land Beal while keeping James Wiseman, it could be the best of both worlds for the Warriors — appease the desire to win now while retaining a future centerpiece. But Washington figures to want Wiseman.

Chriss can be had for cheap. If we can get another big man (for cheap) then that's OK too, but the 4-headed rotation of Wiseman, Looney, Chriss, and Closing Dray should be enough for the center spot for 48 minutes. We seem to be a little thin at the 4 (Dray, JTA, and maybe Closing Wigg if Dray closes at the 5) and maybe Paschall, a cheap vet, Chriss, or the #14 pick can eat up a few minutes there. I'd rather focus on the 1-3 spots which seem to be quite thin after Curry, Wigg, and backup Poole. Klay will come back mid-season, but you know his minutes will be limited. Lee (and maybe Bazemore) can eat up a few minutes at the 2, but they're not big difference makers. If we can use the #7 on a very good wing then we should jump on it, otherwise moving 7 and 14 for a wing or two (Brogdon?) makes a lot of sense. I don't like trades that involve Wiggins because we'd need to get 2 wings back, and would both of those wings be better than Wiggins? I doubt it.

OT but man, I don't think Jrue gets enough credit for how strong he is. This is against inferior competition but you can see it on the court as well. He rarely gets muscled or smoked, you just hope to lose him eventually and shoot over him like Steph ;)

Any of Batum, Porter (from previous list, but I think he's a similar combo forward), or Gay would be a great fit.

There's a lot of bigs who would be suitable, but I'll give a quick shout out to Gorgui Dieng. 5-6 years ago he was a decent starter and was extended right in the big money window when the cap spiked. Since then he's been seen as this albatross contract that's been traded around to facilitate other deals.

Past four years per 36: 15 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 49% FG, 36% 3P, 81% FT.

He's a pretty productive solid backup who does usual big man things like rebound and block shots, but also has the pretty rare big man skills of hitting 3's and passing.

Maybe there's something missing because no one seems to care about losing him, but he's a pretty interesting guy for a minimum contract.

Give me Batum and Baynes!! I was lobbying for both of them last year.

Agree with the sentiment that a good, closing-level 3/4 (preferably a 4?) is most likely to move the needle for us, so also on the Millsap/Gay/Batum bus, if they are in our price range. If we can’t get somebody who can start or close... then I’m not sure if the needle is moved a terrible amount, and signings would amount to insurance, or at best building a super bench?? If we can’t get a good 3/4, guess we’d be trying to use the MLE on a good starting/closing 2 to allow Klay to play up a size.

I would go for Gasol, McGee, Millsap, Batum.

Gasol, McGee, Looney - 5

Draymond, Millsap, Wiseman - 4/5

Wiggins, Batum, JTA - 3/4

Klay, Bazemore - 2

Steph, Poole - 1

sign a veteran PG; trade for a star wing

If Wiggins is packaged in a trade with a draft pick, then your star wing is a 2/3, and you likely need more FA signings.

Starters - Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Draymond, Gasol

End of game - Steph, Poole (or star wing), Klay, Wiggins, Draymond

Bench team - vet PG, Poole, Batum, JTA, Millsap

Lesser role - Bazemore, Wiseman, Looney, McGee

Nic Batum, Rudy Gay or Jeff Green would be amazing as I think they can all play starter level or key rotation-player level minutes in the playoffs. After that, there's some interesting pieces here (Noel, Muscala, Olynyk, Griffin, Theis, Morris) but I don't think any of them are true difference makers (Noel might've been one, but we all know we'll be playing Draymond at the 5 when things matter).

In the even we are unable to get one of those 3 guys, ideally we'd get a stretch 4 or 5 like Olynyk/Muscala to stretch the floor in the regular season (I don't reckon either of them are really playable in the playoffs). Other viable options include Dieng, Dedmon and Chriss (if they believe his shooting improvements early last season were real).

For a reclamation project, Harry Giles or Zach Collins might be worth a go, but their injury histories are concerning.

There is some good names in this post; my biggest fear is that Warriors do nothing , just adding 2 younglings and pray for Klay is still old Klay.

I’m tired to see triple or quadruple team against Curry, or beg for a spot in the playoffs.
