I notice that a number of outlets have begun doing a bit of analysis on Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, and so on, and I'm glad. It's been excruciating having so little to discuss in terms of Warrior moves and so much digital ink spilled on the JK saga. Thinking about other players and their fit is way more fun.
The NBA will implement a new change for the 2025-26 season: unsuccessful end-of-period heaves will now be recorded as a missed field-goal attempt for the team, not the player, sources tell ESPN. Those long heaves will no longer impact an individual player's percentages.
I see no relationship between JP two and any of the other players in the comparison. I see little relationship with any player, so it was perhaps un wise (I could say unfair, but I don’t think bots deserve fairness) to even try. It reveals that statistics don’t sum up a player. I expect him to be a lot better this year and maintain his consistent, three-point shooting, but doing so with confidence.- it’s no longer seeing like a fluke. He plays best with Curry and Curry plays better with him.
I guess so, and see the validity of what you’re saying but it seems like the character of their defense was so different. JTA played a highly competent defense and fit in well with the team approach. I see Payton defense, many times as a game changer. Where are something big happens within the first couple of minutes, he’s in the game and, like Curry. He changes the whole geometry of the game, but on Defense. In my mind, he hast to just be enough of an offensive threat that he can’t be left alone, and, when left alone, which you often is, he quickly punishes the other team Unique , or at least, practically unique.
I think it’s a combo of GP2 being hard to comp and my NBA comp algorithm being completely untuned for the NBA.
The comp to Juan Toscano-Anderson actually made a ton of sense to me. JTA also came in as a borderline NBA player with strong defense, hustle (and charisma) who shot just enough 3s to keep him on the court long enough to contribute to the 2022 ring.
I'm on a data rampage. Here is the list of players I have who had more than one regular-season stint with GSW, though not always because of trade (Klay). Also, this can't catch things like being released from the preseason roster. Interesting list of players... Again, pardon for the crap formatting
Klay? He was on the team the whole time, no? I know they gave him a new contract while he was injured but that still counts as the same stint, no? For sure, Klay does not count for the spirit of this question, IMHO.
Oh I noticed that my query doesn’t pick up GP2 himself, because he was only with POR for a half season, so the code picks that up as consecutive seasons with GSW in a single stint. Not really worth fixing my code I think…
The Steve Kerr interview where he said he played 900 games and only started 17 made me wonder- who in the current NBA is that type of player? GPII is on my list even though he's only played 270 games.
I was curious so I queried players with most games played as non-starter and got this list with a few notable Warriors. Sorry the table will be messy...

I pulled a bunch of data from basketball-reference.com and I use python to make APRIBOT magic. It is possible that BR's stathead lets you do this same query, not sure
Thanks for doing this.

If Apribot 3 pt showers bring Maybot championship flowers, what does Junebot bring?
Champagne showers?
Those win shares numbers are one of the reasons I appreciate GP2. Good things tend to happen when he's on the court.

Am I imagining that this happened a while back? Maybe it was under discussion but not yet adopted?
I think it was originally going to go against the player, not the team.
I wonder why they took so long to fix this.
Great, now maybe Monta won't shot fake at half court
REJOICE!!!
Now retroactively correct Steph’s career 3FG%. 😊
His 3 point percentage in the 2019 Finals definitely suffered because of this
LOL, I thought of you before even reading the replies.

b/c Jordan Poole is about an opposite a guard to GP2 as you can get.

Who should the next APRIBOT scout be about? It can be a Warrior or non-Warrior.
Probably one of the other possible signings that you think is most likely: Seth Curry or Malcolm Brogdon probably being the most likely in my view.
I don’t think either one is likely, but maybe they’re worth scouting if this whole JK saga drags on
GPII is a great player to have on a minimum or near minimum except for that age and injury history thing. Hopefully he can stay healthy.
GPII is awesome and I think he might be even more effective this year despite possibly playing fewer minutes.
I wonder how many Warriors have ever been released multiple times, but then came back to the team both in a trade and by re-signing?

KLAY
Whoops, I see he’s included already due to the injury hiatus. I’m talking about stint #3. 😊
Wow, cool!
Some variety in player caliber, too: some fan/cult favorites (Baze), some polarizing players, some Dubs legends

“Finally washed up”? 😳Rude…

TBH, I would not have guessed that Mo Speights got 700 games in the NBA. That's impressive.
Would APRIBOT say GP2 is a real...headscratcher?
😡
Extra points for highlight plays I say.
Oh yes, and fan/teammate regard.
