Why do I have to be any more "excited" about the Clippers than before the trade deadline, Reggie? They didn't get demonstrably better. Luke Kennard is probably better than any of the players they acquired.

Powell played well tonight.

Gordon's a nice add. Not a world beater but he helps. Plumlee helps them in the paint when Zubac needs a rest, especially on the boards. But really it's more that Kawhi and George are healthy now.

I feel like Gordon is slightly better than Reggie Jackson and slightly worse than Luke Kennard.

I guess the addition by subtraction of Jackson and Wall may make it a mildly positive trade deadline for them; but I don’t see any of the guys they acquired moving the needle.

As you say, it’s all about Kawhi and PG; and they still don’t have a clear #3, 4, or 5 guy.

Jerry West did his magic during the trade. Their roster has improved. Even got another big in Plumlee.

Not sure I agree. I don't think they needed Plumlee or Hyland. Wall sucks, so he might have been addition by subtraction, but they now don't really have a reliable ballhandler. And I thought Luke Kennard was really good for them.

PG has been pushing for Westbrook to sign with them for that reason..we shall see how that goes.

You make a good point. I wonder how they would handle the full court pressure of GP2, DDV, Wiggins, and Kuminga over the course of a series. We even saw DDV pick Kawhi clean today. Hyland seems unplayable because of his lack of defense.

Very disappointed that we lost - but this was one of the few warriors games that I actually enjoyed over this entire season because the game plan was not to just chuck up threes but drive in and score.

The defense is still very weak - just cant seem to get multiple stops.

I expected the Warriors to lose by 20 and to have them commit 20 turnovers tonight. That didn't happen. But I didn't expect the Clippers to outshoot us from beyond the arc.

Didn't expect a win. I do hope Steph, Wiggins, and GP will get back -- love to see what they look like if everyone is ready to go.

That wasn’t so bad.

Finishing the first half of the season at .500 sounds about right for this year's team. Now let's double that win % in the 2nd half.

Not a bad loss. Full strength clippers on three day rest playing really well and Dubs end of b2b did a lot of strong stuff - really good stat lines - with no Wiggs and no Steph. Refs took some fun out of it with some bs, but lots of good stuff. Like someone said be good to see these guys full strength.

(Sigh) Preparing for ice cream of sorrow.

How about an ice cream of "oh well?" Tonight was practically a scheduled loss.

Expand full comment

True. It's not like we blew a game we should have won. An L is still an L but "oh well" does sum it up.

That's Moody's first FG of the night.

If Wiggins played, could we have had a better chance?

Expand full comment

Definitely. Didn't really have anyone to guard Kawhi tonight. Having Draymond guard him worked a bit, but he's best as the safety net. Although looking at how Kawhi shot it today it might not have made too much difference.

Expand full comment

Absolutely. His defense alone would have made things a little tougher on Kawhi

Kawhi wouldn't be shooting 7/9 threes if Wiggins played. But alas.

I think so

Yes.

Wiggs does pretty well against Klaw

Expand full comment

Oh well. Came in expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised that they managed to keep it close for that long. The signs are positive, more intent going inside and slightly better defence(? At least for 2022-23 standards).

Disappointed that Wiggs couldn't make it to this game. If we had him to defend Kawhi I think we could have had a shot at winning looking at how the rest of the team played today.

This was just an incredible game by LAC. 53/49/85 with 32 assists and 6 turnovers is spectacular.

Wiggins at least running Kawhi off the three point line.
