Another early game as road trip drags on

The Golden State Warriors are still on the road, and still looking for answers as they visit the Miami Heat for another matinee. For today’s second game of a back-to-back, the Warriors are resting a big swath of their roster, and leaning on whatever’s left to stay competitive.

What’s crazy is that the Warriors and Heat have the same exact record. Golden State is reeling, trying to hold on to the third seed; while the Heat own the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Looks like Golden State is prioritizing taking care of their health and getting some rest is a higher priority than chasing wins tonight — and I’m not sure I have a problem with it.

Myers on the roster, depth, and the center position

Warriors GM Bob Myers made some waves online this morning when he went on 95.7 radio and fielded some pointed questions about the team’s recent struggles. As always, the complexities of assembling a roster around four enormous contracts is at the heart of the team’s lack of depth. But also, the team’s recent struggles have a whole lot more to do with the missing key cogs Green, and Curry than anything related to whatever cheap contract big the team could (or couldn’t have) signed.

Gambles on Wiseman’s return, and Nemanja Bjelica’s viability as a center have come up empty — compounded with the absences of Green and Curry, and you start to get the big picture. Anyways, in my opinion, the roster issues go way further than not finding a playable big center in the buyout market.

Memphis (without Morant) beat the Nets (with Durant and Irving). I'm impressed. I keep hearing that they're a very young team so they won't go far the playoffs. I think they are for real a threat.
