Given he was the focus of the offense, his efficiency was going to come down. That's still a pretty OK game. I actually don't care that much about 53% (on 19 attempts!) in this situation. If he gets the TOs and fouls down, that's a pretty good line.
He's still got a lot to improve, but I'll take that for a 23 year old forced into a lead scorer role. And, last year, I think we would have been celebrating this game. It's a measure of how far he's come that people are quibbling with it now.
East: CLE (9-0) BOS (7-2) BRK (4-4) IND (4-4) ATL (4-5) MIA (3-4) NYK (3-4) CHI (3-5) CHO (3-5) DET (3-6) ORL (3-6) WAS (2-4) TOR (2-7) MIL (1-6) PHI (1-6)
(I didn't even know that BBRef even had this feature, pretty cool)
- In 2021, we were in 1st at 7-1, but more importantly never left the top 3, except for a few days when we were 4th on a tie-breaker
- We bottomed out last season (record and standings-wise) on Jan 22 and 26th, so a little more than a week before the Butler trade
- The last time we were 2+ games under .500 was 2/7/24. The streak is in danger whether or not we beat the Pacers on Sunday. Not a huge deal, though.
- 12/20 through Christmas week is going to make or break the 1st half of the season. Anything less than 5 wins is a huge warning sign, and may lead to bigger roster changes at the deadline than we anticipate
LOL, I was just over at bbref drooling and came over here to share this exact same post.
This dude is amazing! Obviously, the .500 3P% isn’t going to hold up…or is it? 😁…but beyond his numbers, his decision-making on both sides of the ball, shot selection and motor are eye-popping. He and Moody looking like a legit 2/3 pairing.
I need Moses at 6-8 3pt attempts even with all the OGs playing. I don’t care if it’ll come with the occasional 1-9 or 0-7 games. It’ll open up way more opportunities for others if he is consistently aggressive shooting the ball. Plus I think he’s ready to take on that volume while making it at a respectable rate
*That* possession was the perfect microcosm of why Jonathan Kuminga will never be the star he and his fans want him to be. Obviously, he is not to blame for this loss, but it shows that the roleplayer Jonathan Kuminga has a future in the league, the self-proclaimed star Jonathan Kuminga does not.
I would have agreed with you whole heartedly last year but I've seen *enough* improvement from #00<#1 to give this 23yo a wee bit more time to develop. By buying more into his role, he is going to get more playing time and he seems to need that experience more than others. And hey, Kobe missed all those air balls too :P
The points off turnovers were one of the major reasons why we lost. Kings had 30 points off of our 19 turnovers, while we only had 11 points off of the Kings 16 turnovers. Kings capitalized off of our mistakes while we failed to do so.
We also committed 25 fouls, and the Kings went 28-33 from the line. The Kings committed 18 fouls and we were 19-23 from the charity stripe. (At least one or two of those FTs were for techs.) That didn't help.
Points off turnovers is a dumb stat. I wish the league would record points off LIVE BALL turnovers, because that's the type of turnover that can lead to transition buckets the other way. If you get called for an illegal screen or throw the ball out of bounds and then your opponent inbounds the ball and ultimately hits a three, that's three points off of a turnover when in fact the turnover had no influence on the subsequent possession. On the other hand, if you get stripped brining up the ball at midcourt and your opponent goes in for an uncontested dunk, those points are directly related to the turnover.
Our TOs were dumber than theirs. Happens when you run a lineup of rotation 4th-endoftheroster. Schedule and circumstance loss, regrettable but at least they made a game of of it and a couple players showed growth.

Such a little thing but it was nice to see Richard and Podz take it to heart after the 8 second violation and make it a point to sprint to the front court after the inbound lol
JK inconsistent - lost some focus. Unsure of where to be and how to move. Back to taking off-balance five foot turnarounds instead of getting to the rim. Our rookie has something JK needs.
I’ll always root for Spencer but if he’s playing this much we’re in trouble.
I dunno ... maybe JK had a meh game, as people seem to be describing here (probably accurate).
But, his line score is:
24 pts. 53% TS, 9! rebounds, 3 assists, 5 TOs, 5 PF. 40% on 3s (36 minutes)

Sometimes I think people look for the “See I told you so” moments
Moody is really looking like a good NBA player. Richard continues to look like a fantastic pick. I will take those positives.
The negative is Horford might be at the end based on what I have seen so far.
It is looking like small ball which is going to be tough.
JK might need to be traded for some size if there is someone that fits.
The West on this date last year:

Well this is terrible news.

Spurs and Lakers game was a FT fest. Spurs with 40 FTAs vs Lakers 44. That must have been ugly

LeBron is just gonna sit out until April while Luka and Reaves carry the Lakers to a top 3 seed...smh

Horford's 0 for 8, including 0 for 7 from 3 lost the game for the W's. If he makes 2 for a 25% effort, then they win.
Kings probably don't run out the clock if they're down 1.
More like Al 0-for, amirite
Schroder and Westbrook… ugh.
Moody shines again.

Al will get there.
I dunno, with a full squad Spencer appearances should happen with 15 point leads. I suppose also with any garbage time.
He made some sweet plays tonight though.
