Would like to see Moses get a longer leash from now on and able to play through mistakes if he’s physically able to. I know he’s a professional that’s always ready but think he’d build so much more confidence if his minutes are consistent.

Our team 3pt stats are kinda wild... raise your hand if you had Dray, Jimmy, and Kuminga all with better 3P% than all of Steph, Buddy, and Al. I know it's early, but still...

Eric A., when jimmybucks is +17 in 14 minutes and AVG-Z score has him -0.56, there's something wrong with AVG-Z. You posted a while back what AVG-Z means, and I forget. Is this something like PER which massively penalizes players for less than 30 minutes a game?

Expand full comment
Eric Apricot's avatar

AVG-Z is the average of z-scores of EFF, Game Score, PIE. Those don’t measure +/- at all. That’s why I list all the numbers, because they tell different slices of the story. I believe Game Score is basically PER for a single game?

I’ve experimented playing around with calculating win probability added and leverage but for now they just don’t match my eye test… too much volatility and randomness within a single game. Same for things like lineup net ratings.

I’m always open to adding more numbers if they can be easily calculated from Box Score and Play by Play.

I would LOVE to see rolling averages on some stats that could indicate a players recent form (say last 5 games?)

Don't know about the metric but single game +/- is heavily affected by teammate and opponent performance to the point where it is largely meaningless imo, despite what that oaf Kawakami thinks

Yeah I'm the one who posted that so the progression was Slater reporting that Steph was really losing it in the 2nd half due to his cold, then there was another tweet that I didn't post which was video of Steph saying that he was losing it in the 2nd half because of his cold, and now this video came through with Kerr saying look he's not playing tomorrow lol
