Now I know why teams tank. I wonder if Steph is reconsidering his return in light of this seemingly Warriors curse. Celebrini really has his work cut out for him. He will be sooooo busy. Will probably ask for a big raise this year.

I dont want Steph back this season - the Karma is not good - let him sit out.

OTOH

[Friedell] Moody is out of the x-ray room with a big brace around his knee. He is gingerly making his way back to the locker room with Rick Celebrini. Moody was moving very slowly with crutches. Celebrini was right next to him — talking to him.

Per AI,

In terms of player-games-lost, this season is second only to the 2019-20 season

340 player-games missed in the 2019-20 season - Steph was out all season (60 games actually) and Klay was out 65!

262 games missed this season as of march 20th

FYI: Calculation: For every game an active roster player is unavailable due to injury or illness, 1 "Man-Game Lost" is added to the team total - does not differentiate between star or non-star player!

genuinely depressing… moses was just coming into himself as a defensive force and impactful offensive player.

I dont want to be controversial, but think about the parallel with the 49ers season - lots of injuries. Post-season, an evaluation conducted of the niners physical training staff (by players ) turned out to be very bad! Not sure how much of this is based on how the season went.

But using that as an analogy (noting the vastly different sports), could it be that the Dubs own physical training staff has not been top notch this year??

We do have a high number of “older” players - so that is a factor in “so many injuries” so - maybe just a real-time reaction to reason out why??

Hard to make a case for training staff negligence in this last injury. Moody had been out for 10 games with a wrist injury, but probably kept up his conditioning and kept his legs in good shape without the wear-and-tear of playing in real NBA games. If anything, he was fresher than most guys out there. Just a freak accident.

There will be no Celebrini slander, GTFO here

nobody is slandering anybody! Jeez

ananthd's avatar

WTF? The Dubs main injuries have been freak ones and other because he is 38 year old running the most in the NBA.

Ddid you read the last line??

That wasn't in your original post. While age is a risk factor, Jimmy and Moses injuries were just plain bad luck.

Of course ideally we'd like them younger, but age is no match for luck or lack thereof.

ooh - added that line within 30 seconds or so - but this season is only second to 2019-20 when Steph missed 60 games and Klay missed 65!

And so it *does* end with a bang... Damn MoMo, that's just horrible. I've been really enjoying witnessing your career unfold and it seems like this year you've stepped up. I hope you can come back and remain a WFL. Prayers up

I had a tough day, and then got to see the Warriors gut out a tough win, only to gack it up at the end of regulation, only to tough out a nice 7 point lead, with Moses ripping Flagg and going in for an emphatic game sealing dunk... and then... sadness... wtf, man...

cpt nemo's avatar

just imagine if that bone headed turnover had not happend near end of regulation - no OT, no injury - really sucks!!!

DFiB's avatar

I have to think that injury was coming sometime... maybe not tonight, but soon... those non-contact things don't just happen, right? Ugh...

Feel horrible for Moody, just shut this season down already

fzwinter's avatar

Dubs and Moody absolutely cursed. Dude dominates on both ends of the court in his return to action and then nabs another steal on his way to a game-sealing punctuation mark dunk and blows out his kneecap. Unreal.

Loon Gehrig's avatar

ah sh*t, here go again . . .

No wonder Fitz and Buike were horrified as soon as the injury occurred in real time.

fzwinter's avatar

I saw that live and almost threw up

cannothoop's avatar

yeah, not ready to watch that

cpt nemo's avatar

i did not realize that close-up knee shot was in there ! I would not have watched either if I knew! - just makes you real sad and real angry for this to happen for no damn reason!

Welcome back, Moses...

...to IR

Have we hit rock bottom yet?

ananthd's avatar

Hopefully Moses only misses the rest of this god forsaken season. We can't even have moderate things like a win over a tanking team, let alone nice things.

Buike's knee surgery was a problem. Not blaming the doctor but he had to have corrective surgery a year later followed by another. Even if it's a ruptured patellar tendon like Buike there is no saying that the same thing will happen.

Hookshot Holly's avatar

Oof the pic of his knee close up don't look great. Feel free to google it.

I feel whipped. I've kept hope alive for so long, but it's just awful. I feel bad for Moses. I feel bad for the Warriors. I just feel bad.

Why can't we have nice things. Get better Mr Moody
