Dubs pull it out!
In-Game Notes
Starting with the Motion Weak PNR for Steph and Wise. Happy now, fans?
Maybe this Wiseman jumper is real
Hey, Wiseman with the skip pass to JTA! Who dishes a really slick (if intentional) drop off to JW
I have to note every Wiseman pass out of the post until it’s not rare. Is that the first one of his career?
Kerr calls HORNS. I assume the handoff is coming. Yes it is, and Wiggs gets left open so long that he is obliged to hit the 3.
Wow my guy JTA burrowed deep to dig out that loose ball
OUBRE THROUBRE
Gotta appreciate the irrational confidence
DET just outright doubling Steph. Steph swings to Wiggs on weak side, drive. Blake points to have someone cover the drive. No one responds.
They can’t hit anything so far... so many airballs. GSW lucky so far
Oubre with the nice adjustment after his relentless commitment to dunking that.
Too true too true
Getting out rebounded? Go small. Why not?
Hey, they ran a Post Split with Oubre in the post. Very interesting. A good play to get players used to read and react.
Wiggs looked pretty sturdy in the post defense there, guy was bouncing off of him
2 for 1. It’s when Steph’s truly free
You know what? F it, let’s let DET set whatever the NBA record is for OREBs
Wiggins with the rare dunk attempt. As I’ve said, Wiggins and Oubre average to one normal person’s desire to dunk
Haha don’t curse them, they almost kicked that last one out of bounds
Wiggins has been hunting a monster dunk today and he finally caught one.
It’s kind of unblockable. I think that last Wiseman J was between multiple peopl
Wiseman pioneering the sky-jumper
Wana has a way of disrupting with annoying D
Wiggs with the iso. Wiseman in the dunker spot, Wiggs was looking for him all the way. Wise somehow doesn’t convert point blank
Haha Wise figures he can miss about five straight 3s and still lead the Dubs in 3P% so... BOMBS AWAY
Hmm I think that was the rare Head Tap for Steph at Q2.5.05. Puzzling travel.
WISEMAN PASSED! Out of the Post Split to Steph. Our rookie is learning
Wiseman seems to have the right position and right timing to block shots, but somehow it’s not happening
Holding breath
Wiseman again passes out of the Post Split. But when the split is Oubre-JTA, people aren’t too scared of the jumper
Good gravity from Wise on that huge Paschall dunk. Help couldn’t leave him
If only these dunks counted more for sheer awesomeness. Oubre refuses to be outdunked by Wiggs.
That was a next level find from Steph to Oubre, almost a second straight highlight dunk
I just rewatched. We’ll never know, but it was the same setup, just Paschall was in the wrong corner, Steph waved him to the correct side, and then EP bolted to curl way before the decoy slip could happen
I *think* that end of half play was a very messed up version of the Klay classic decoy ghost high PNR with curl pin on the right. Timing was completely wrong though, so Steph just said f it I’m going in
Okay, have to be happy to be down only 3 since DET was allowed to shoot twice every time down
Depends on whether you’re driving a playoff bus or a tank
They can win that way, but it will be The Longest Road
Dray pulling down the mask to get in Wiseman’s ear. Why exactly are they wearing them?
These are some pretty sweet passes from Plumlee...
AND MY GUY JUAN WITH THE THREE
Wiseman’s rim protection way better for the first minute of H2
Oubre just tortured Hayes on that play. Almost stole it about five times, almost forced him back past halfcourt, finally got the steal
For a team that was supposed to defend and fast break, our fast breaks have kind of sucked
WIGGINS PINNED IN FOR STEPH!! OUBRE swung it to JTA who finds a Steph 3!! The first time all year! Steph is actually dancing and high fiving everyone for the proper Kerrball
Oubre with the steal and a relatively sedate dunk by his standards
I guess we want to see what Clifford the Big Red Dog can do, but JW posting up Plumlee doesn’t feel like the best shot we can get
I don’t know what that play was supposed to be Q3.7.40... maybe a floppy? Intriguing. It also went nowhere.
JUAN AGAIN! The deflection, the hustle save out of bounds, outrunning the field, the sweet reverse!! See, I’m saving you by threading all my Juan talk
JTA with a SWEET poke away to save the dunk and get the steal. Do I talk too much about him? Yes. I don’t care.
Ooo ambush PNR with Steph, Looney, my guy Juan.
myguyjuan
Wiggins starting to get good at these Kobe assists, drawing extra help, dumping a dead bird of a shot but a teammate follows
JW with the post move quick not waiting for Poole to spring free. Poole with the frustration body language.
Q4.8.15. Another HORNS Handoff w AW backcut. The #2 play for AW this year
Next was the #1 AW play, Head Tap post up
Wiggins Head Tap again zipper option
That Wiseman break will make Poor Man’s Commish very happy
Wiggins has entered the chat
Maybe they sit Steph the rest of the way? No that would be silly
MyGuyJuan runs the short roll beautifully
MyGuyJuan™ with the big hustle rebound on that missed free throw.
Dubs are a couple of mess arounds away from Random Ending
Damion Lee, The Closer
If you write the postgame, you control the narrative, Mr. Dogg
Damion Lee is basically the Warriors’ Mariano Rivera. Get him in for the last inning, he’s shut things down with his two-seam jumper
Nate says I can’t use Rivera, have to use Eckersley. He’s not my boss anymore, but I agree. I accept the friendly amendment.
Lol, 2-2, Eric, is good enough for me. If we hang around .500 for another 16 games, well be able to make a run for a playoff spot the rest of the way. With Dray on-board, we'll need this time to start steadying the ship...The interior needs some help; Dray will fill that need. Work-in-progress, but, there is definitely progress....
Regarding the discussion down this thread of whether the Dubs did the right thing taking Wiseman over trading down for Halliburton, what makes me salivate is dreaming about getting TWO great players in next year's draft to make a Big Three for the next decade. Whatever Wiseman is able to do this year doesn't even come into the equation. Nor does Halliburton (although he was my second favorite--after Wiseman--in the draft.)
