I'm sad Pat can't be rostered this year. Steve's post game comments seemed to indicate a lack of identity and spirit starting out and which was there in the closing group. Also sad at Wiseman year draft watch after #9 Avdija burn us to see #20 Maxey dish out the same. Ultimately has come down to too many missed swings in our lottery selections. Hopefully they get one of the next 2, starting Pat and Melton.
The Dubs promoted him to a standard contract in March of '25 and I'm guessing they'll do so again as soon as he reaches his 50-game limit as a two-way player.
I think Pat /will/ be rostered this year. If the Ws pull off a many-for-one trade (as they did with Butler last year), they'll have a spot for him. He's earned it.
Dubnation is filled with great data-driven commentators, so I wont argue all the great posters here on individual players performance based on plus/minus or other stats.
RANT INCOMING !!
For me, my sports watching enjoyment comes down to a combination of aeshtetics + effort/performance!
For example:
Aesthetics: does a players make the game “beautiful” like /MJ/Usain Bolt/Federer/Steph - this triggers something good - maybe my dopamine levels??
Effort/Performance: does the player and/or team play hard - maybe it triggers my endorphins??
Based on this, my review of the dubs current season is as follows:
Players I find “Aesthetically” pleasing to watch (not including tonights game): Steph, JB, GP2, Pat, Post - so that is less than 50% of this roster - thankfully it is at least one basketball team!!!
Performance: this is where I seem to have a huge issue with this team and something that significantly deviates from all the “numbers and Stats" folks: Outside of Steph, JB, GP2 and Pat, I dont find anyone who is playing their hearts out every moment in every game no matter what the situation - this group is smaller than one basketball team!!!
Anyways - this is just a stupid rant as I am SO PISSED AT TONIGHTS LOSS - and I will end with @Eric’s comment in the earlier thread "That random ending randomed harder than any ending has randomed this season”
Moody has been slumping with his shot lately. Haad five games of 5+ threes in his first 13 games and hasn't made more than 3 in his last 8 while shooting <30%. Seems to slump around this time of the calendar every season for some reason. He's not unplayable when he doesn't hit shots anymore because of the defensive end of the floor, but hope he can get back to looking as promising as he did to start the season because that guy was a valuable playoff caliber starting type of player.
Hmm, you're right. Moody's shooting has declined in the past several games. I wonder why? Did opposing teams have scouted him and are throwing out counterattacks, which Moody has been having trouble dealing with?
This! He's looking off to the left and down as he grabs the ball and swings it over to his left side. It's adding time (and apparently, at the cost of accuracy) to his shot
More chaos when Steph and/or Jimmy is around which leads to cleaner looks for him. He doesn’t have the wiggle to get off clean looks for himself without the gravity of a star. He was struggling a lot in the half court offense and shot better when it started getting chaotic
Get hype, Dub Nation. *Assuming* the winds of health blow our way, assuming that, we are looking forward to a team that just added a very good couple of guards out of thin air. A starter caliber in Melton and a great off the bench scorer in Seth.
At this point Im not convinced that JK is a better player than Gui Santos but I guess the Warriors have to play him and hope he has a few breakout games before he is trade eligible.
I agree that we haven't actually seen the team at full strength and hope we get to soon. Regarding the playoff rotation though, some guys not listed will be in it and some guys listed won't be on the team.
My worry is that with Horford, Steph, Dray, and JB all being their age, full strength seems unrealistic and expected strength really seems more like 3/4 of them. (If they all miss 20 games, at least one of them should be missing on any given night).
I completely left Will Richard off, I could edit it but I leave it as a reminder that we have so much depth that a guy who's been starting isn't even on my mind in the first 13
I'd bring Melton off the bench in the backup PG role instead of Podz and start Moody and Post. Post is just a better player than Horford right now. I'd close with Melton, though.
That block by Maxey on Melton tonight reminded me of the block by Lebron on Igoudala in the 2016 Finals. Both blocks leading to a heartbreaking loss 😢.
and to add to that: the last two games have had come backs mainly due to the YGs, and more so due to the >50 draft picks or undrafted YGs!!! maybe other teams dont plan for them or its that they are playing like their entire career depends on each game...
Hield played well in this game. 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, no turnovers. He was hustling and playing with energy. Why can’t he consistently play like this? He’s good for one game and then is off for the next few games.
Aside from staying afloat this next week or so I think Steve will have to
make hard decisions about who’s going to be in the rotation moving forward. Gotta find the right combination of guys that can play as one no matter their draft status.
Awesome comeback, but that was a painful choke. Sigh this season feels like an extension of last year. Very frustrating.

*Avdija #9, but yeah.
Thanks, edited.
friendly reminder: At least over the last 4 years, our >50 draft picks and/or undrafted players have been much better then our <20 draft picks.
For xxsakes Anthony Lamb got more minutes then our draft picks!!!!

Warriors Inbound Challenge: Impossible
Which role players are trending upwards or downwards in the past several games? For me, it's:
📈: Moody, Spencer, Post
📉: Horford, Kuminga, Podz, Hield
🤷♂️: Seth Curry, Melton, GP2, Santos, TJD, Richard
The players in the 3rd category are there due to lack of sample size or playing time, or me not knowing how they are doing in the past several games.
Moody has been slumping with his shot lately. Haad five games of 5+ threes in his first 13 games and hasn't made more than 3 in his last 8 while shooting <30%. 1. His release time is slow.
2. Because of above, if there is a reasonably tall defender, he is unable to take a shot!
3. He is always looking over his shoulder to check when Kerr will yank him out!!
4. He does not seem like a player who plays with demonstrable passion that infects his team mates routinely!! Sorry, I just cant buy stock in him!!!
He's not looked great on the defensive end as well the last few games.
Doesn't Moody normally struggle against quick guards?
Hmm, you're right. Moody's shooting has declined in the past several games. I wonder why? Did opposing teams have scouted him and are throwing out counterattacks, which Moody has been having trouble dealing with?
Looks to me like his shot mechanics have reverted to that big slow dip. He had sped it up to start the year.

Moody as a role player, meaning off the bench, yes, as a starter - HELL NO
Speaking from the perspective of someone coming down with the flu, that was quite the fever dream of a fourth quarter.
Thanks, Fitz.

Starting playoff five: Melton, Steph, Draymond, Butler, Horford
Next six: Kuminga, Podz, Moody, GPII, Quentin P., Seth
Situational availability: Hield, Spencer
If every one of those guys plays reasonably up to known potential, that's a really good team. Melton is giving me chills.
Kuminga is ... not.
At this point Im not convinced that JK is a better player than Gui Santos but I guess the Warriors have to play him and hope he has a few breakout games before he is trade eligible.
I'm afraid playing him at this point is decreasing his trade value. Looks checked out.
I think they need to invest in enough bubble wrap to keep him off the floor until January 15

How could you leave Pat out of the Starting unit?!?!?
I think it should just be Pat. Patman can take them all!
Because a two game sample doesn't change a career?
replace the next 6 with: pat, post, hield/moody, seth and gp2
Um, don't.
That block by Maxey on Melton tonight reminded me of the block by Lebron on Igoudala in the 2016 Finals. Both blocks leading to a heartbreaking loss 😢.
I know it’s bad to look at single-game +/-, so let’s look at the past two games:
- Draymond has been -27 when the team was -12 overall.
- Spencer has been +12
Just make sure he’s not part of a trade for Giannis
and to add to that: the last two games have had come backs mainly due to the YGs, and more so due to the >50 draft picks or undrafted YGs!!! maybe other teams dont plan for them or its that they are playing like their entire career depends on each game...

The Buddy Hield Experience TM
He also shot 2/7 from 3, had 4 fouls and fucked up the inbounds play in the final seconds by trying to intercept a pass intended for Melton.
If he could play consistently he wouldn't be on his 5th team
Interesting to observe how PAT SPENCER 's CHAMPION Pedigree, defines him across multiple sports...
What other sport besides basketball has Pat Spencer played? I didn't know about this.
Hell of a badminton player I hear
I bet he kicks ass at beer pong.
Looking forward to January 15

Our highest scorer was . . . Pat Spencer with 16 points!
Please submit applications in this thread for the DeAnthony Melton for Starter Fan Club.
I was de’lighted with his return.
WINNER!
why do I sense that someone will have to fight Kerr to make that happen
Me me me
