so about tonights game against Portland, before season started here is how I would have felt--

- If Dubs were 0-2, this would be a must win for our soul and morale

- if Dubs were 1-1 (assuming a loss to denver), this would be a must win so we can get back to winning ways

- If Dubs were 2-0, Its a must win Baby, we got to stack up wins!!!!

I typically watch these games in the morning because of my timezone, and I just don’t know how I’m going to get any work done today after that.

Safe to say I’ve never seen a better game so early in the season. And honestly, there’s been a lot of them, but that goes in the highest tier of regular season Steph performances for me. Offense, defense, the insane clutch shot making…

Kuminga looks good. I already repent of wanting to trade him for Royce O’neale. Horford, Jimmy, Draymond… This team is tough.

Props to Aaron Gordon. A good thing about winning is that you can appreciate an opponent’s performance without being too bitter about it, and he was absolutely awesome in this game.

Also, I liked the moment early on when Jokic was being defended by Will Richard at the elbow and decided to have mercy on the rookie by passing out. Jokic is such a gentleman.

I got up this morning and started watching and got impatient. I will often ff just to see if it is a close game. In this one since I am busy today and another game tonight, I ff to the end of 4th and somehow I thought they lost 120 -117 by misreading the screen. I thought it showed players walking off. So I decided to watch the last few minutes of the 4th and was shocked when Steph tied it at 120! What a great ending.

Now I will watch the entire game knowing we won and feeling good with no stress. I guess it is old age but I hate the stress now.

After a game like that, you’re allowed to skip work today. Just show your bosses the boxscore and they’ll understand.

I wasn’t able to watch the game but checked on the score a few times during the game. Each time I did, Denver had the lead. They still had the lead when I checked in the fourth quarter with about three minutes to go. I thought that was it: we’re losing this. So, you can imagine my shock when I checked again that we WON in overtime! I was ecstatic. When I got home, I read all the comments made here in DNHQ and I felt like I was watching the game. The excitement was very palpable. Now, I can’t wait to watch the replay.

One thing that didn’t show up in the Warriors’ favor if you were only checking scores; . Steph Curry.

For those who missed it, this was OT. Dubs weren't supposed to beat the second best team in the NBA, but this happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK4xww1msH8

Umm, yeah, just finished the game... um...

I got to watch Steph Curry

Edit: But like a few others who will forever refrain from voting Steph as WW out of respect, I voted JK as I got to watch Kuminga improve at basketball (was gonna write, make a bounce pass, but I think we have seen enough in these first two games to start licking our lips - and who hasn't wagered a bet on him as Most Improved Player @34?!)

I think it'll be tough since mip is mostly just given to a player that improved the most in ppg and making the all star game. They'll barely care if he got a few more ast a game and playing better defense.

He'd need to go from 15ppg last year to like 22/5/5

So... we're gonna get Moody and Melton back at some point here. I assume Melton will mostly take GP2 minutes, right? What about Moody? JK's consistently playing the right way, which has been the only hurdle to him getting bigger opportunities... Podz has been underwhelming, so maybe Podz heads to the bench? Feels like we're eventually gonna be real deep at the "smaller wing" position with Moody, Podz, Melton, Buddy, Richard, GP2, and Seth (who I assume will be effectively stapled to the bench until injury strikes)...

If games are gonna be this intense at the START of the season, we need all of ‘em to make it to the post healthy.

TwoRingTest's avatar

I think Moody slots in pretty comfortably with the starters. Podz moves back to the second unit.

Podz' hasn't been as effective so far this year (including preseason). While he does many things, having another long wing like Moody out there to defend is a big plus to take some defensive assignments from Steph.

The only caveat here is that Moody needs to make his shots. But, that unit should give him a lot of space to get his shot off, so I'm not all that worried about it.

It’s a long season with a lot of minutes to fill, and games missed due to load management and injuries (hopefully none serious). We’ll see guys play who didn’t play tonight for sure.

Moody is the only one of those listed who isn't really a guard. I don't think his minutes are at risk right now as long as he performs.

When fully healthy, I would not expect Richard to be in the rotation.

Al/Dray/JK/JB/Steph lineup played the last 4 minutes of regulation with a +4 and all 5 minutes of OT to +6. So that 5-man lineup is now +10. It's the first time those five have played all season.

Yeah, I was pretty excited to see that lineup. You could argue that that's our best five players on the floor, and (for once) we're not that small.

And, with JK, JB, and Dray, it's actually got good athletes at most of the positions (and even creaky old Al Horford is quicker than I though he was ... both with his feet and his shot).

I was at this game with my son. For most of the game, the crowd was very angsty due to the Nuggets persistently being 5+ points ahead, Gordon's flamethrowing, and several terrible foul calls. Even when the W's were catching up at the end, we were kind of in don't-believe mode, and too quiet. When Steph got the 3-point foul call, before he shot his free throws, he walked around center court, with his hands down by his waist, very gently and subtly urging the crowd to up the volume. It was such a small gesture, but very deliberate, and he made a circuit of the logo, facing all quadrants of the court. Everyone went nuts, the noise tripled, and we stayed super loud all the way to the end. So much power in such a small thing. Amazing to see.
