One thing I noticed from both videos is that Trayce seems to be really advanced as a screener. The flipping of the screen to avoid Holiday’s ice, and then the perfectly angled drag screens were really impressive. Jrue is also notoriously difficult to screen. To me this really reinforces that TJD can be helpful this year.
Question for the panel: when someone (Wiggins?) made a layup I saw TJD run under the basket and allow the falling ball to bounce off his head and off to the side. Was that a cunning ploy to ensure that the Celtics were not able to run out fast in transition for a 4-on-3? If he caught the ball and threw it away (like a soccer full-back after conceding a throw-in) then that could be called a technical foul, right? But what he did had the same effect. It just looked like an accident. Was this a veteran move from the youngster?
I've seen stuff like that go either way with the refs. Sometimes they'll call delay-of-game, sometimes they won't. It really depends whether they think you did it intentionally or not.
I love that GP2 burst out laughing. I don't know why, but laughter seems to be the natural human reaction when someone like Steph does something like this. Screaming in Triumphant Delight is how we greet something really good, but there appears to be one more level that we reserve for these truly transcendent moments: involuntary manic laughter.
I’m so glad Kerr finally benched players who needed to be benched AND started the bench players who needed to start. Easier said than done: For team success, players always need to sacrifice some ego for the good of the team.
Whoa! The Celts seem to have taken it personally. Sacramento full squad wiped away, 55-52-83 team, in the second of a back-to-back on the opposite coast. Aw, sorry Mike, our bad.
It is. #22 in the league, after being #24 last season. But without knowing how open or long the shots were, it’s hard to know his much of the difference between the GS and SAC games was just random variance.
Did you try to switch streams, or was this one of the "we are only going to stream the Korean language call" games? I know they pulled that a few times last season at least with the initial push after the game. I think a few had an English language call available when I checked again later.
Silver made the call, or per usual, League Pass continues to reliably infuriate with its general unreliability while still be the "best" option for following.
In his last 10 games, he's played less than 10 minutes in six of them, and the most minutes he's played in that stretch was 18. I think Mike Brown finally got Sleepy's scouting report
Coach Brown seems to have figured out that it’s hard to build a winning bench lineup around a short-armed 6’-1” guy who cannot be bothered to shoot, score, draw fouls, or rebound the freaking rock every once in a while.
While Ellis has yet to prove that he is a reliable scorer, he scored double digits against the Suns, Thunder, and Celtics in the past several games. He is also a couple of years younger and a few inches taller than Mitchell. If Ellis continues to play well, I could see Kings trading away Mitchell.
Could have had Moody, Trey Murphy, or Jalen Johnson, all of whom would be killer fits on a team in dire need of long, versatile, athletic wings. Or: if they had drafted Sengun (basically Sabonis with better defense), maybe they aren’t driven to the tragic move of trading away Ty freaking Haliburton at age 22.
Brown, White, Holiday, Pritchard, and Porzingis each had 20 or more points against the Kings. The last time Celtics had five players with 20 or more points each was in 1987 vs. Nets with the quintet of Ainge, Bird, DJ, McHale, and Parish.
So much bad in that last play. Curry's layup attempt was really ugly. TJD and Kuminga fighting each other for the rebound, D White looks at Curry and decides to let him roam on 3 point line (good for W's but a really bad move for the Celtics) ... All of it forgotten because CP made a good pass and Curry made a great shot.
With GP2 coming back and Draymond I don't see him getting any minutes tbh, especially come playoffs even though I really like him. What can cp3 moody get us?

You spoil us sir. I’ll take the double E1P has a holiday gift and cherish it with a red bow.

The fact that he seemingly fell backwards into the coach behind him as well was pretty funny to me
I’m so glad Kerr finally benched players who needed to be benched AND started the bench players who needed to start. Easier said than done: For team success, players always need to sacrifice some ego for the good of the team.

Without Tatum, too. They’re really good. (And 16-10 record notwithstanding, the Kings are pretty meh.)
And should be 15-11 😐
Irrationally good feeling =

TJD's college stats - scoring splits by range. Anybody know where to get this info?

This gives an “at the rim” stat and 2p jumper stat
Here’s what the bball ref people have. No advanced tracking stats… https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/trayce-jackson-davis-1.html
basketball-reference.com, probably
Celtics hit 52% from 3 against Sacto tonight. Glad that didn’t happen yesterday against the Dubs!
Isn't the Sac defense pretty bad?
It is. #22 in the league, after being #24 last season. But without knowing how open or long the shots were, it’s hard to know his much of the difference between the GS and SAC games was just random variance.
They missed a ton of open threes on Tuesday, so we did get lucky there.
Finally getting to see the Celtics-Warriors game on NBA League Pass -- in Korean. It's hilarious, but why do they do that?
Because some people speak Korean.
So play it in Korean for all of us?
Did you try to switch streams, or was this one of the "we are only going to stream the Korean language call" games? I know they pulled that a few times last season at least with the initial push after the game. I think a few had an English language call available when I checked again later.
It was Korean only. I can now switch to English, but it still defaults to Korean.
Silver made the call, or per usual, League Pass continues to reliably infuriate with its general unreliability while still be the "best" option for following.
You decide.
Celtics crush the Kings 144-119. Celtics move to 21-6 and 7-6 on the road while the Kings fall to 16-10 and 10-4 at home.
the high BBIQ the celtics were exposed to last night against STEPH was enough to crush the Kings :-)
Who needs Tatum, Horford, and Kornet when you have Porzingis? He was a monster tonight; he had 24 points on 7/11 FGs, 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
well, looks like the Kings cannot handle the celtics with Porzingis - wonder how much worse it would have been with Tatum!
Celtics are 16-4 when Porzingis is playing, 20-6 when Tatum is playing, and 5-2 when Tatum is playing and Porzingis isn't playing.
aah - that was fast - you seem to be the pre-eminent NBA data scraper of DNHQ!
I use basketball-reference, ESPN, and Statmuse to search for team and player data.
Is Davion Mitchell out of the Kings rotation? He hardly got any minutes tonight. Keon Ellis seems to have replaced him.
In his last 10 games, he's played less than 10 minutes in six of them, and the most minutes he's played in that stretch was 18. I think Mike Brown finally got Sleepy's scouting report

Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy [his] play?
While Ellis has yet to prove that he is a reliable scorer, he scored double digits against the Suns, Thunder, and Celtics in the past several games. He is also a couple of years younger and a few inches taller than Mitchell. If Ellis continues to play well, I could see Kings trading away Mitchell.
They might be able to get a half-eaten bag of Doritos for him now.
14.1 minutes, 3.9 points on .450 true shooting, 0.5 free throws, 2.0 assists, 1.0 rebound (it’s getting worse), 0.3 steals (defensive ace!), -21.8 net on-off.
Sounds like Kings' draft night in '21 was an off night
Mike Brown seems to be learning the bad habits of Coach Kerr :-(
is Davion good?
If you say those words three times, Sleepy teleports to your house with a six slide Powerpoint presentation showing you exactly why not.
Isnt jz obsessed with the warriors missing out on davion m?
Yes, though I think JZ may have cooled down a bit. JZ was suggesting trades for him. Maybe Mitchell's available. Score!

Boston unleashed their anger on the Kings after getting put to bed by us. LOL. Win win.
Brown, White, Holiday, Pritchard, and Porzingis each had 20 or more points against the Kings. The last time Celtics had five players with 20 or more points each was in 1987 vs. Nets with the quintet of Ainge, Bird, DJ, McHale, and Parish.
so is that f**** producing the king-chauns!

When I saw that replay, I thought wouldn’t it be cool if Curry purposefully bounced it off the backboard for the trailing TJD to do a monster jam!
It’s time to switch to a rationally good feeling about Tjd. But we should all remember your confidence from the beginning
Welcome to TJD Atoll.
With GP2 coming back and Draymond I don't see him getting any minutes tbh, especially come playoffs even though I really like him. What can cp3 moody get us?
Why not?
It would be ridiculous not to play TJD if he continues to play like this.
Is there a reason he can’t play over Looney?
He gives them what they desperately need and he is smart as well.
The fact is Green can have his minutes cut some as well to keep him healthy and able to go 100% every minute he is on the court.
This particular team simply put requires more guys playing and nobody but Curry playing 35 minutes.
It is not a fact that you have to have a short rotation, especially if you have an aging group.
A ring, perhaps?
