Jonathan Kuminga is injured. He was not benched at random. And he was not injured mid-game, he was already questionable pre game.
Feel free to contend that he's a disappointing player for whatever reasons you so contend, and make your case, but it only seems reasonable to factor in that for recent games he appears to have not been himself. I've seen a number of recent posts that Kuminga is playing badly because he's bad, that have not factored in his injury.
Here is the writeup from GSOM *before* last night's game.
--------------------------------
Questionable — Jonathan Kuminga (bilateral knee patellar tendonitis)
Kuminga has come back to earth a little bit after his brilliant start to the year, but he’s still one of the team’s best players, and his presence is critical against a hyper-athletic young Spurs squad. If he’s able to play, he’ll likely open the game defending De’Aaron Fox, and play a crucial role on the glass against one of the league’s top rebounding teams.
The Warriors' 57 three point attempts last night tied for the second most in any non-double-overtime game. The franchise record is 59 (58 in a regulation game): https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/F5WAi
Last night was also just the 5th game in Warriors franchise history in which the Warriors had two players who posted a Hollinger Game Score above 32 in the same game: https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/bEQX1
The broadcast mentioned the Spurs are ranked 30th in defending the 3. They have Wemby and Kornet lurking in the paint. I wouldn't be surprised if they make an attempt on the franchise record in the coming Friday game.
Glad we got the SEGABABA win but this road trip can’t end soon enough.
I’m sure someone’s been keeping track of this and I have short-term memory but I can’t remember a tougher start to the season schedule wise based on the number of B2Bs and road games.
OMG there's only one thing better than E1P! And that's winning and then getting an E1P! Thanks Eric and I like the politics lesson. 😉
Now let's see a bit of a miracle. 2 sleeps and we repeat!
I probably shouldn't mention this...but the floor is better connected when JK isn't on it, lately? He has such RAW talent but even with Jimmy's coaching he just doesn't anticipate like I would hope. GPII, Moody, Will all better inuition.
Jimmy's new media day hairdo... lmao this guy is hilarious

The team will miss him the longer he is out. The small ball lineup with GP2 replacing him is most likely not sustainable over the course of a season.

Indeed.
To win tomorrow, they will either need to hit a higher percentage of these threes or else continue their rare parade to the foul line.

Hey, at least the League didn’t have them start with some exhibition game in Japan like a couple of seasons back.
As long as they have any Curry excitement left to milk they are certainly going to squeeze every last bit of it out to kick off seasons.
His brilliance has lifted all boats for a decade and made everyone a shit ton of money. I don’t know if that torch could ever be passed.
Watching Wemby do freakish things will probably not stir kids to flock to his game the way they have the baby faced assassin. Different phenomena.
Feels like a B2B every week. There is another one coming up next week.

Hopefully, his knee is better soon, and he can start lighting up with the benches.
