Y’all are missing the point about the referee calls and reviews. It’s like this: Mounted alongside the video monitors at the Secaucus facility are copies of the latest report on who has paid Adam Silver protection money and who hasn’t. This report is issued to all game referees as well.
Now, Joe Lacob doesn’t want to pay that protection money because he figures the luxury tax he’s paying ought to be more than enough to cover it. In fact, if he did pay protection money, he expects the league would find a way to slap a luxury tax on that too. So he’s holding out, and as a result, we’re on the referees’ hit list. That’s why we get crappy calls and reviews.
I’m sure all of the above is true because it feels true. That’s all that’s required for “truth” nowadays, right? I rest my case.
According to the 2 minute report, the only blown call was on Klay’s pick near the end of Q4. “Thompson (GSW) does not give Okoro (CLE) the time or distance to avoid the contact and turns his shoulder to deliver contact, which dislodges Okoro during the pick.”
Phew. Really good officiating, slightly in the Dubs’ favor, is validated. Good job guys!
Definitely 'microdosing' the Night Night around here - great E1P.
Oh and bonus: Turns out, Steph is shooting 79% from 2pt these recent games, and getting to the basket seemingly at will. And yet, Jarrett Allen is wandering around the perimeter to guard the flat-screens.
I don't think this Curry is any different than the 2021 Curry and I really wonder how that season would have went if the Warriors didn't bury their season early with Wiseman and instead had signed a vet center that summer. I recall some Warrior fans insisting the team was actually not good, but I think the following season and this opening stretch has really put in perspective how much potential that team had as well. I don't think a run to the Conference Finals was out of the question at all, personally.
I'm finally at the point, after about a year or two of watching Explain One Play breakdowns, that when Eric asks, "Do you recognize this play?" that I can stop the video, and gleefully shout out the wrong play.
Dray-dar. How did that take 8 years??? Or have you been sitting on it?
That pass to a diving Steph truly was sublime; that was unkind of the basketball gods to deny the finish.
Glad I did not stay up (East Coaster) to watch the game; sounds like the officiating (not ME, the Officiating) down the stretch would have woken up my kids.
Earnestly thank you, Apricot, for teaching me basketball. Whenever Wiseman played in the preseason all I was watching for were his screen contact (meh) and his box outs (perfectly acceptable I thought). So proud of myself. Jim Barnett tried to get through to me all those years, but I only had eyes for the ball. You got me to (try to) watch the whole floor, and it's an entirely different game now.
I miss Barnett; has anyone tried to recruit him to DNHQ?

Another excellent E1P!!
I did not know until reading an article about the 15 games the night before the election that the calls being made by the league office in Seacaucus are being made by refs who don't have games scheduled. They get rotated through the league office for a break and to educate them [on how not to make good calls, apparently] and then they watch the games [possibly while playing drinking games] to make more incorrect calls as need be. I didn't understand how all of that worked until I read an article [NBA website, I think] about a week ago.
Draymond sees all with his Dray-dar. Steph muffs the bunny while baking Italian flatbread. Klay insta-ghosts the screens. Jordan Poole’s Botox face. Kevon Looney “skies” for the rebound.
Frak yeah! Dems got Senate control back. Biden can keep appointing judges (among other things).

"Microdosing the 'night-night'" has to be my new favorite E1P comment.
I know it's G League but Seaside's Jamaree Bouyea almost had a quadruple double with 27-9-9-8 the other night. That's impressive!

Klay has the best defensive ratings for Dubs with 25 mpg or more played - Klay, Dray, Steph, Wiggs (in that order).
How? Too SSS or individual DRTG is bunk?

In Sacramento. Will be at tomorrow night's game.
Focaccia is on the menu at the restaurant.
I've got a good feeling about this.

Great series of play descriptions! Thanks Apricot.

Eric Apricot drinks the right brand of coffee. Morning genius.
I guess Steph is sky-foccaccia-er now.

Gems, Mr. Apricot, pure gems.
