Pet peeve: professional athletes who act all proud and devoted to their college after barely attending for a year or two; and in all likelihood not really doing much work academically, not doing all the other stuff a school has like extracurriculars, just playing basketball. And then they talk shit like "My Wildcats are the best" when it's like I bet they couldn't find the school on a map. Maybe they get invited back to be honored or for sporting events. Meanwhile there are standard-issue students who attend for the four years, work on a couple of majors, get to know professors, join the debate club, vote in the student elections, flirt around in the dorms -- you know, real students. They have the right to call their school their school. (Jocks don't need to flirt, they get to skip that part of the process). As always, these observations may not apply in all cases, there are exceptions, your mileage may vary, fly safely, and thank you for choosing DNHQ Airlines. We know that you have a choice in web sites and we appreciate your business.
On the center issue (prompted a bit by the Gobert discussion and a bit by how I was thinking during the Sac game that we could have really used Damian Jones this year). Jones informs us a bit about how Wiseman might take a while to develop. And it raises the question of how long you wait for a player. Was it even possible for the Warriors to just keep Jones at the bottom of the roster until he developed into a useful bench player?
Do you think Gobert would be efficient in Kerr system? Would be a sort of Javale on offense, maybe, but on defense Kerr likes small ball, in playoff most of all ...

"...which is usually bad news for the rim." :D
For some reason I am imagining a meme that is just a picture of a bent rim with a cartoon thought bubble that says: (with apologies to Raiders of the Lost Ark) "Kuminga. Why'd it have to be ... Kuminga?!?"
It seems to me that in the off week, it would be good if Kerr designed a couple of plays to take advantage of Kuminga's superpowers. His cut to the rim was the right move within the offense, and it had devastating effects. But it would be interesting to see if they can create switches on smaller or slower (that's everyone) players, let's say from near the three-point line, and let Kuminga attack in isolation, kind of like Baby Giannis. A few things seem true about that possiblity: A. Kerr probably isn't going to change the offense to suit a rookie as the playoffs begin. B. Opponents will not expect it nor honor it with any double. C. Kuminga really should be able to dribble once and dunk from just about anywhere in a half-court set. D. He'll mess it up sometimes, because his finishing skills are not now what they will someday become.
To his credit, if Jordan Poole wants to enter the discussion as my favorite player, being Steph when heβs on the court and Bazemore when heβs on the bench is a pretty good strategy.
Poole's off the dribble three point percentage has skyrocketed to 36% on the season on 3 attempts a game. That was the missing ingredient for him to become a star imo, a month or two ago it was still hovering around 30% and was similar to last season but hopefully something finally clicked.
I'm a little sad that I've missed the last few games and will miss the rest of the regular season games. But these E1Ps are bringing me the key moments of the action. Yay!
Just tremendous playoff intensity from the gang down the stretch these last two games.
It's fun to be a fan again. Wiggins returning to all star form, Poole and Klay with good shot selection. Bjelica looking like a legitimate contributor. GPII healthy. Draymond active.
If the Lakers lose at Phoenix tonight, by my calculations they are eliminated from the playoffs based on conference record vs. San Antonio and head-to-head vs New Orleans..
That means they will be in offseason mode on Friday.
It would be nice to have home court for the Finals, because if you're not aiming for the top then why even make the playoffs.
Loved the Kuminga focus but I was really delighted and surprised by the excellent passing and motion action plays. Great Warrior ball and not merely a dunk fest. Those are fun too though!

Wiggins going to be πͺπ½π
Final score:
Kansas: 72
North Carolina: 69
So⦠can you not foul before a three point attempt in college or something?

Do the jazz say yes to wiggins plus wiseman for gobert? Gives them the athletic wing they need
So let me get this straight... We've come to the conclusion that Mitchell short? Or maybe not short. It seems like we've decided he's too short.

Iβm starting to enjoy the E1Ps just for the celebration analysis.
Question Eric: whatβs the track youβre using? Sounds like something out of a JRPG
