Eric Paschall “small ball 5” notes & quotes from Warriors morning shootaround
“I'm a naturally strong dude”
Here are notes and quotes from morning shootaround today with Eric Paschall. The Golden State Warriors (4-3) take on the LA Clippers tonight at 7:00PM PST. Please be reminded, coaches are not required by NBA media protocols to talk after morning shootaround, although during road trips, head coach Steve Kerr has been gracious to do so many a time for the road beatwriters.
I have also decided to make this article free because we weren't showing great numbers on our YouTube channel since the last win. Maybe the novelty of the Warriors winning has worn off a little bit? Tonight is a big test!
Most challenging as small ball 5: “Probably learning the plays. Again, I did it through college (playing the 5)...no big deal... I'm good.”
Asst coach most helping with? “Everybody...just doing 5-on-0.”
Key to gaining muscle and trimming fat at Nova: “Just the right training...S/O to my guy Shack (sp?).”
Nova body fat, training: “Lost like 9% of my body fat?”
How much can bench press? “Haven't benched in idk how long.”
Difference: “Last year I had to force a lot of shots...Allowed to go out there and play free, last year had to force a little bit.”
Late to mini-camp: “It was a setback but again we had more time.”
3s: “Feels good...getting the right amount of arc.”
Defense: “My help side and being there for my teammates...learning from Draymond.”
LAC momentum: “Having Draymond back is huge for our energy.”
Small ball 5 process: Kerr just brought it up one day.
“HS played more guard.”
Bazemore just called Paschall a “young Larry Johnson” on Instagram Stories!
I have to say he's the Warriors' most improved player this season. He still needs to develop his 3 but there is no one better in ISO. He's a bulldozer and has a good mid-range shot.
