So we're a week away from Wiseman possibly starting to ramp up to full speed practices right?

I know it’s just preseason, but Harden looks kinda chunky and sloppy.

Nice breakdown of Poole's progress and potential impact this season:

Besides all the other sub-plots, Lakers-Warriors seems like another test of the changing styles of play in the league. If you have LeBron AD and Westbrook, you'd be wise to drive to the hole and get rebounds. If you have Curry Poole Porter (Klay!) Wiggins, you play five out, find the open three-ball. Neither team is in very good position to stop the other. Preseason aside, this will probably be an ongoing theme.

Im thinking (in between work projects) today about youth development on the Dubs vs the type of prospect needing said development vs the type of prospect we’ve been recently targeting and it raises a few interesting questions for me. First of all

1). Why are Warriors brass so enamored with perceived highest upside raw prospects since we got back into lottery (and yes I have considered Moody in that category since he threw his name in the draft)

2). If the Warriors draft Halliburton, Mitchell, Senguin, Trey Murphy or any of the upper tier High Floor prospects last two drafts, do they have the same immediate impact on the floor for us that they seem to be having for their respective team

And finally

1). If they are able to make a more immediate impact for us does that impact outweigh any potential future benefit that a raw prospect such as Wiseman and Kuminga can bring to the table

I sorta ask these questions because when I think of develop Aligning with immediacy of remaining competitive I think of lesser high ceiling prospects that can bring a couple of NBA readybskills from Day One and can be ‘developed’ to round out the rest of their game while we compete. Poole is a success story obviously but it did take a couple of years and he was an older prospect. On the flip side he was considered a second round pick by most pundits so this was a Draymond esque if he comes close to fulfilling our now lofty expectations this year.

I see a similar trajectory for Moody if we keep him. I just don’t see that at all for our top 2 all world athleticism prospects so again this has me thinking that If their skill sets catch up to their potential in let’s say 4 years for each prospect from the time they were drafted does that outweigh the impact that a more high ceiling prospect can make from Year 1 to Year 4

NBAPA continues to have their collective heads up their asses:

"But the players' association, sources said, has stressed it does not believe that is necessarily the case, something executive director Michele Roberts said publicly to the New York Daily News earlier this week.

"They've been reporting that we've agreed that if a player who was not able to play because of his non-vaccination status, they could be docked [pay]," Roberts said. "We did not agree. The league's position is that they can. We'll see."

Wiggins officially ruled out tonight with knee soreness.

Who gets the start?? Gotta be Porter, right?

This season we need a whole template of jokes that start "The Lakers are so old that..."

Like these, but if they were funny:

"The Lakers are so old that Father Time comes off their bench."

"The Lakers are so old that four of the starters played for James Naismith."

"The Lakers are so old that the Raptors evolved from them."

"The Lakers are so old that Trevor Ariza managed to get badly injured in preseason without even playing."

Oh, wait, that last one is true.

Hollinger is a chump (no surprises here)

Steve forgot about Klay (who the hell is Steve Lardi anyways)

Poole will feast (on their old-ass defenders)

#BEAT LA (always and forever)

Wow. Did the Sixers really ask POR for 3 1st rounders/ 3 pick swaps alone for Simmons? It's a lot to ask for but would have been the "all in" move opportunity for POR. He would have been an interesting fit there especially with CJ/Dame still in town.

It’s amazing to me that anyone who watches basketball, who presumably would’ve had the 2019 finals switched on, would argue that Klay wasn’t a star, let alone good. It’s beyond dim

I unfollowed Holinger after he dropped that turd. It’s ok to be an irrational polemicist if you’re an internet hag, but in an analyst it makes it pretty clear he’s just big mad at how GS bounced his teams from the playoffs and won titles until he got bounced out of the league.

I thought it was hilarious that Hollinger is predicting the Warriors to win 39 games which is how much they won last year with ten less games.

I dunno. The team looks obviously better to me. There were a lot of mismatched parts in last years team that they were struggling to figure out lineups for. This year's roster may not be perfect, but it's very cohesive. There's a ton of workable lineups. This is even without Klay.

As for Klay, I think he was playing the best ball of his career in the Finals when he got hurt. Not sure if he's getting back there, but I think he'll approach his more standard Klay level by end of the season.

Bet the over. One of the better bets I saw was Warriors to win the Pacific at +400. The Lakers barely finished ahead of the Warriors last year.
