DubNationHQ.com: New name, same great site
We are changing the site name to Dub Nation HQ. The new URL will be DubNationHQ.com
The Ultra-Short Version
We have changed the name of this web site to Dub Nation HQ! The new url DubNationHQ.com works right now, and you should start using it right away to get to this site.
Thank you to Rich, the Poor Man’s Commish
When Vox broke up the old GSOM gang (Daniel Hardee, Duby Dub Dubs, Eric Apricot, Nate P and a horde of GSOM alums like Thomas Bevilacqua, Joe Viray, Ivan Bettger, Patrick Murray), we looked for a place to land and start up a new web site.
Rich took a risk and let us set up web camp in the backyard of his LetsGoWarriors multimedia empire, and I’m forever grateful. It was a wild adventure and it was the reason we were able to grow this great community.
Starting today, we’re going to re-brand to Dub Nation HQ. This web site will stay the same except it will have a new name and URL, DubNationHQ.com.
By splitting the brands, Dub Nation HQ will focus on growing and engaging with you, our awesome web site community, and crafting high quality pieces.
Don’t worry, Dub Nation HQ will still make video and podcast content. Explain One Play and Daniel and the Hardees are still on tap here. Expect all the usual site writers and content creators, besides Rich.
Rich, under the LetsGoWarriors name, will focus on providing a steady stream of many up-to-the-minute, behind-the-scenes looks to a mass audience.
Start Using DubNationHQ.com To Get Here
If you’re like me, I used to just type in “le” into my browser and let it autocomplete to letsgowarriors.com and bam, I’m at the site. This will stop working soon, so you should start right away getting here via DubNationHQ.com. Go ahead, type it into your browser in another window… I will wait.
Okay, I hope you made it back.
In case you forget, we will try to keep letsgowarriors.com redirected to our site for a week. Also, since you will still get emails of every post, and you can click on the headline in the email to jump to the correct URL.
Your subscription to the site will continue seamlessly with DubNationHQ.com.
The New Dub Nation HQ Logo
It came from the creative mind of Ivan Bettger @ivanbe, who also designed the great LGW logo. We love it. It’s elegant, and has one subtle callout to Warriors symbolism and one very subtle callout. (Can you spot them?)
Heartfelt thank you to everyone in this community
Here’s what I recently wrote to the others about my vision for this site:
I want the web site to be a gathering ground, where a wide variety of fans feel safe and listen and argue with each other. I want to learn from the community, I want an audience that can appreciate all the different kinds of content I make, goofy, analytical, film, emotional.
I want a game thread where I can hang out and talk about the game in an emotional but mostly sane way. I want to be able to engage with everybody across Warriors and NBA media.
I want our site to be known as the welcoming, interesting, sane place for Warriors fans.
I want our site to be high quality… when we post a piece, it’s something that a hunk of the audience wants to read, and that a smaller hunk will love. When I post a thread, it’s somewhere people want to comment because they know they’ll get good responses.
I don’t want to chase views of random people and I definitely don’t want my business to rely on clicks. I love not having ads… I think all the garish ads on sites are unreadable insults to the audience.
I think I speak for the whole gang when I say that’s what they want too. And thanks to you all, I feel this web site has been a success at everything I listed.
I can say seriously that you all make literally the best Warriors comment threads in the world, better than at The Athletic, better than at other GSW sites.
At Dub Nation HQ, there are thousands of readers, but commenters don’t get lost here; it feels like you can get to know each other and entertain / educate / delight / annoy one other personally.
So thanks, and see you around here as always. Just remember to use DubNationHQ.com to get here.
The newest issue, beyond the need to disable email notifications each time a new thread is up, is that when I post a comment, regardless of device type, it disappears and I can't really do anything without re-loading the page. Again, more of an annoyance than anything else, but I sure hope that Substack can start addressing some of these things. Thanks!
So I guess I'm done with this site now, what a shame. Have to sign up each time? email flooded each time and have to reset not wanting any?
