With a lot of talk around trades in the off season and the narrative that "It's just a business", to me it feels like the Warriors is more like "A family" (No Cowherd, I can't see us trading Klay and Wiseman for AD). Like if you play in the team passed a certain number of seasons you likely stay for a while (vs getting cut if you don't pass the threshold number of seasons) and even if you get let go later on you could come back at some stage (ala Bogut, Iggy). Is there any truth to this hunch or are my glasses too gold blue and rose tinted?

IF Warriors forced to address Salary Cap off season, I suspect they will keep core together, invest in Poole as the future heir to Curry's throne, then this would leave Wiggs as the odd man out. IF this is the case, the 4 best trade partners would be IND, SAS, POR & SAC. All have room under the cap, long term needs at the position, have 4 draft picks each in upcoming draft and have non-hostile fan bases where someone like Wiggs could fit in. It would be a loss on the court, for sure, but moving that salary could allow us to keep guys like GP2, OPJ or Loon on the roster as well as open up more playing time for Moody & JK.

Oh shit, my bad. I just woke up future trippin'!

For somebody else's team.

Goofus! What a scare. All good wishes for a full recovery with lots of good meds! And maybe the edible kind, too. (Somehow I missed reading posts that day.)

I'm surprised so many people are picking Denver in this series. If you just look at the matchups by position, we blow them out the water. WTH is wrong with people?! I thought they WATCHED basketball!

Another very crucial thing would be what lineup do we start/close with? I would love for us to try a Steph/Poole/Klay/Dray/Looney lineup (Loon's just in there to defend Jokic so that Draymond can roam around and cause havoc which is what he does best).

I'm sure this is old news since I haven't been around this last week, but Klay missed 941 days and this year played 941 minutes. That is FREAKY.

Starting Line Up Cold Water Alert

Expected line up and why it needs to change.

Steph-Klay-Wiggs-Dray-Loon

The best way to approximate the quality of this group (because they haven’t been healthy) is to use the same 5-man rotation that substitutes Poole for Curry. Poole isn’t Curry, but his style of play and production are close enough to Curry to get us in the ballpark. For the sake of the arguments to follow, I look at Curry/Poole and Klay/Wiggs as being mostly interchangeable.

Poole-Klay-Wiggs-Dray-Loon (per 100 Poss.)

Min 52:54 Pts -34.7 FGA -7.8 FTA -19.9 STL -7.4 TOV +12.0 PF +6.8

Splash some cold water on your face. This group was positively dreadful. To think that substituting Curry for Poole in this group would magically turn water into wine is foolish.

Now, let’s look at the high volume group that started the year.

Curry-Poole-Wiggs-Dray-Loon

Min 346:21 Pts +7.2 FGA -3.4 FTA +0.9 STL -1.5 TOV +4.3 PF +1.1

Here is the difference between the 2 groups per 100.

Pts 41.9 FGA +4.4 FTA + 20.8 STL + 5.9 TOV +7.7 PF +5.7

How is it that exchanging Curry & Klay could make such a big difference between these two groups? Is Klay horrible? Absolutely not. That is looking at these groups the wrong way.

This is all about Dray and Looney on the court together and what works and what doesn’t with them. The Curry-Poole-Wiggs-Dray-Loon line up works because it has 3 playmakers on the floor together. The playmaking abilities of Curry-Poole-Dray more than make up for the offensive deficiencies of the Dray-Loon combo. However, when you remove the 3rd playmaker, when it is the 4-some of Klay-Wiggs-Dray-Loon with either Curry/Poole, you get a dumpster-fire of an opening lineup.

Dray & Loon together can make beautiful music, more on defense, but offensively as well if, an ONLY IF, there are two additional play makers on the court with them. Fat lady is singing, end of story.

My suggestion is as follows. Opening lineup:

Curry-Klay-Wiggs-Dray-(OPJ or Beli or JTA or GP2 or Zaza or anyone BUT Looney)

At 4-6 minutes, at first substitution, Poole comes in for Klay or Wiggs and Loon comes in for the 5. It’s not rocket science. And it’s not just stats, it’s what we see.

Green and Loon, because of the minutes they play, have to share time on the court. Curry-Poole, because of the minutes you want them to play, have to share time on the court. We need to kill two birds with one stone. When Dray-Loon are paired, you pair Curry-Poole with them and the 5th man could be anyone.

That’s the plan.

If Kerr opens with Steph-Klay-Wiggs-Dray-Looney game1, it’s going to be a long and disappointing off season.

Kerr was quoted saying, in addressing the Dray-Loon offensive deficiency combo, that Steph substituting for Poole would make that a non-issue. And if he really believes that, then the Dubs are in trouble. Maybe not this round, but soon after. Who starts Game 1 against Denver, in my mind, will determine the course of our post-season.

And on that cheerful note, Peace & Love Everyone!!!!! LOL

Article which looks at playoff-level rotation metrics (ORTGs and DRTGs): https://nba.nbcsports.com/2022/04/12/bucks-still-elite-and-warriors-nuggets-looks-like-high-level-series-when-adjusting-for-postseason-rotations/

Basically, the Warriors look like a dynasty level team while the Nuggets look like a proper contender. As far as first round matchups go, it's about as good as it gets (though I think the Warriors match up favorably whereas the Nuggets have the best player in the series).

Okay so in the last thread, I had you guys rank the 9 players anonymously using the information provided. Now, its time for the big reveal which is . . . they were all rookies! Its just that I isolated their post All Star numbers (since rookies often improve throughout the year) and made them per 36 to equalize minutes!

Player A: Kuminga

Player B: Barnes

Player C: Mitchell

Player D: Suggs

Player E: Green

Player F: Cunningham

Player G: Williams

Player H: Mobley

Player I: Wagner

From the initial rankings, Kuminga/Green/Mobely were the consensus top ranked rookies while Barnes/Wagner were surprisingly lower ranked.

Does the reveal/new information regarding defense change your rankings?

That hour and half of Steph-Dray on Draymond Green show was amazing.

Among other things to note:

- Like most of us, neither one of them will unequivocally take perfect 2016 over what came after including near perfect 16-1 playoff run

- Curry (and by proxy Dray) also sees JK, Moody, Lee, Juan (and to some bjt GP) as pieces who will not be part of Playoffs rotation but would be needed and so would need to be ready to help win a game or two and thus potentially a series. So it's just not Kerr who has JK in that role.

- There is an alternate world where Steph and Giannis are on same team (Bucks). Thank you Bucks doctor and Mark Jackson for not letting that happen (Stephb getting trade).

I still think he’s out at least Game 1 but what was the bet, Sleepy?

Watching Dray's interview with Steph and ofc both of them think that Mark Jackson deserves another opportunity. I honestly don't get how they think that with how much shit that went down
