Hmmm, maybe young players who are excited about getting playing time can be fun to watch. They seemed pretty organized, too, except for the third quarter, when the refs seemed to want to even up the score.
>>>Zach Lowe on Luka Doncic complaining to refs: “The whining is back to peak Dallas levels. It’s every f*cking play! Just play man! Not everything is a foul. Are you playing to draw a foul or playing basketball? Which one are you doing? Are you playing 1 on 1 with the refs? It’s every possession now.<<<
Note that after Leon's 3-17 game last night, the Warriors are probably not in a big hurry to play him in NBA games.
On the other hand, Bolden went 8-13 from outside the arc last night, so they might want to sign him to a 10 day contract while they are so shorthanded.
And 6'0" Deivon Smith had a triple-double with 14 rebounds! Mini-Podz?
Great to see Bolden shooting that 3 and the best sign is that he’s shooting a lot of them!
Note that we shouldn’t get too swept up in small sample sizes… one game is definitely not enough to make a roster decision. Bolden’s shooting 36% on 69 shots so far, which is somewhat better data and also a respectable 3P%. But statistically, even after 100 shots 3P% has an error of about 10%. I think it’s only really 400 shots or so where you get down to 5% error.
New Orleans may be at the bottom of the heap but this could be a trap game today (hopefully not). Pels beat the Sixers in their last game with Poole, Zion, and Bey scoring a combined 68 points. BTW, Dejounte Murray returns today after a 13 month absence for his Achilles injury.
There is an argument to be made that Gui Santos is the best Warrior playing right now.
Over his last 9 games, his average Hollinger game score is 14.4. Not only is this the highest 9 game span of Gui's career, but it is the highest of any Warrior this season other then Curry and Butler: https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/s60Jg
Gui also currently has the 29th best 9 game span box plus/minus of any Warrior who has averaged 27 or more minutes per game over 9 games this entire season. Every other 9 game span ahead of him belongs to either Steph or Jimmy: https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/WbU8a
Kuminga's Hawk debut is likely today. Just like in Game 1 of a preseason, expect a bunch of strong reactions to a single game. When a player doesn't play for awhile the take pressure builds and that first game back is always the release.
No, Steph, Jimmy, Kristaps, Seth, or LJ Cryer for the Warriors tonight. That brings the Warriors down to 12 available players.
Horford, Green, Melton, and Nate Williams are all listed as questionable.
If none of the 4 above play, the Warriors will be down to the minimum of 8 players, including Leons, who is not listed on the injury report.

That lineup would be very vulnerable to New Orleans' league leading points in the paint, with just one NBA player (who hasn't played more than 21 minutes in a game sin a month) over 6'7".
Look at the bright side: the Suns should be without Booker in the short term and Brooks out till the playin. The Clippers are still without a PG, Garland may come back in March around the same time as Steph. Portland lost to Nuggets by 50 at home. I think the young Dubs are playing above par and shouldn't lose ground till the cavalry of Steph and sporadic KP are back. I think we can get to 7 and stay there.
It's simple: rest all the vets tonight as the Pels don't own their pick and have no real incentive to tank and play them in Memphis who own their pick and just lost to the woeful kings and therefore tanking in every way possible.
If the young Dubs win today it'll be a bonus, but tomorrow is the must win.
Why do you think the opposite? What incentive do the Grizz have to win? If you play Al & Melton today and lose there's a real shot at losing tomorrow as well despite the Grizz best intentions to lose as most of our guys will be 3rd game in 4. I'd make sure they win tomorrow since today is iffy anyway.
My guess after the last game with the Grizz and their last game against the Kangz is that they will try to find a way to lose against an 8th grade team.
C'est la vie. If we don't have the vets, we don't have the vets.
Since about all we could do is be a spoiler this year (as Arash notes below), it's not the worst thing in the world to play the youngsters and let them get more experience. Just grist for next year, where we at least have an outside shot at relevance.
Even against the Pels, winning a game without Horford, Melton, and Dray would be a very tall order. That said, it would be interesting to see what the Baby Dubs can do.
It sounds like we're pretty much locked into the 8-10 spot.
We'd have to drop nine games more than Memphis (in 25 games) to fall out of the play-in, and they are tanking. Any hopes to get up to seven or six were pretty much shot by Steph having to stay out another 10 days longer (minimum ... no guarantee he's back then).
I don't really see what's make or break about the next two games. Even if we took an 0-10, we'd probably still be the 10 seed.
I just saw Opeth live for the first time and was blown away. I know they are also a lot of prog these days, but they melted my face and the death growl was STRONG.
"We absolutely have to" do our best as a fan base to accept that the team has none of its best offensive weapons right now, and is effectively hobbled going into the season's most critical stretch. If they try hard and play well, I can live with the results. In the meantime, godspeed to the injured stars.
Win or lose most teams aren't going to enjoy playing against this version of the Warriors as they just get up into people on defense. It isn't going to go well with refs that enjoy blowing the whistle but it is pretty darn effective otherwise. Sometimes it looked like Nuggets players were giving up the ball just to get their defender off of them.
Luckily, this is the part of the season when ref's start swallowing the whistle more as the gear up (down??) for the looser enforcement that's usually found in the playoffs.
Hmmm, maybe young players who are excited about getting playing time can be fun to watch. They seemed pretty organized, too, except for the third quarter, when the refs seemed to want to even up the score.
JK is available to play tonight for the Hawks.

After 3 shots I start to make a lot of errors.
I wish Caleb Love had shot 20% from 3 against GSW this season, we'd have 2 more wins against them...

LGW!
Kinda hard to be a trap game when you are only suiting up 8 or 9 guys and there all 2nd stringers.
And the Pelicans have no incentive to tank because they don't own their own pick.
The Mavs are giving Khris Middleton the decision to decide if he wants to remain with the team or seek a buyout, per @TheSteinLine.
Bummer, he would have potentially been a nice add for the stretch run but we're one of the 3 teams that can't sign him
De'Anthony Melton will play tonight in New Orleans, but Al Horford is OUT
@NBCSWarriors
Draymond Green has been upgraded to Probable
@DaltonJ_Johnson
This is the time for QP to find his 3-point shot. Get it done, big guy!
Nate Williams downgraded to Out.

Unless the threes are raining, the Warriors will need a vintage Green defensive performance to win, IMHO.
Leons (and all two-ways) will not play even if available, since they are still in POR for a G-League game tonight (baseball series)

Tonight will also mark the first game back for the Pelican's Dejounte Murray since he ruptured his Achilles roughly 13 months ago.
I hope Kuminga plays with a fresh mindset.
No Missi, Peavy, and Murphy III for the Pels tonight

I would argue the opposite.
Beat the Pelicans tonight with Melton and Horford active.
Then start Green and Spencer tomorrow and see how much the Grizzlies really want to lose.

When are we scheduled to hear an update about Curry?
Looking at the schedule, we absolutely have to win this back to back. After that the schedule looks brutal, especially without Curry
We can’t beat the Pelicans or Grizzlies without Steph?? This is the perfect time to rest his knee.
It sounds like we're pretty much locked into the 8-10 spot.
