was surprised to see Dougie McBuckets out there and kangz up big wondered was he the secret weapon? then all that weird bad reffing drama at the end?!

It feels like everything always goes right for the Lakers. Austin Reaves gets the perfect bounce on the intentional missed free throw and a wide open floater to tie the game.

At least the Clippers are losing to the Kings. For now.

Anyone have a thumbnail sketch of Omer Yurtseven (hereafter referred to as OY)?

I vaguely remember OY being reasonably effective for Miami and was a little surprised to hear he fell out of the league.

His 2024 numbers (last season in the NBA) are nothing earthshattering, other than seemingly being a decent rebounder. Shooting was pretty woeful (.565 TS).

If he can play some defense (no idea) and rebound, I guess that's a reasonable pickup, under the circumstances.

I remember in preseason a while back he was pretty much the exact type of big to spell trouble for our undersized crew of center-ish players at the time: Large, knows how to use his size, and good hands. I would guess if he dropped out of the league it's because he doesn't do much else. No long-range or even middy game of note, not enough handle or catch-and-shoot prowess to be a threat away from the basket, not nearly as prolific at shot-blocking as Gobert or Wemby nor as crafty and knowledgeable as Horford or Draymond,s and not a gifted passer either. I guess depending on how he holds up on defense he could be better than TJD.

I just checked his stats on bbref and yeah it seems in about ~11 minutes he'll get you 5 and 5 including orebs; doesn't really wanna shoot the three, ~60% from two, ~66% from the line; fouls a bit more than you'd like

"Value over replacement player"/VORP is 0.0 for his career and I'm not a super nerd on advanced stats but he is by definition a replacement player lol

(for context, Steph's VORP is 76.99 which is top-20 all-time and 5th among active players)

Listed at 6'11" 275lb 27yo "Big Yurt" (so says bbref) is already the largest human on the roster by mass and it ain't even close unless he's dropped weight

The Big Yurt likes to camp out in the paint.

Hah!

That's what I gleaned from his shooting (lots of shots from 2, not many from 3 and not a good percentage).

Excited, depressed, ambivalent? I don't know!
