My husband and I had a great time reading the article, rereading it and replaying the videos several times, laughing the whole time. It gave us so much joy, as much as the game. We get to watch basketball again tonight with another recap! Life is good.
This only covers number of minutes, not how effectively those players have played, but it's a bit harder to summarize that in one number. Given how the team has been winning, feels like mostly guys are playing well.
Tried watching Denver/Miami. Jokic is a marvel but lord are these teams boring to watch. And with Butler and Herro out it’s not a competitive game either. Snooze….
FYI. I live in Santa Cruz. There’s an outreach program where local families host players so I took Klay out to dinner (Joe Lacob’s tab) last night. We didn’t just talk ball, but seems like his game is getting very close. I helped discuss some of his concerns about just wanting to get back on the floor and trying to stay patient, and her was very grateful, said it was the first pep talk he’s had about his mentality during all his rehab. I’m just humbly happy to help. We also talked chess. He also asked for some tips on his shooting form and I’m going to swing by the arena later to help him out. Just thought you’d all want a report from your G-League correspondent. PS Invited Wiseman too but he no-showed me, said I was “too short” which is whatever
According to Slater, Draymond said his back was killing him after his presser last night. Can't be overstated how impressive he and Looney have been sacrificing their bodies against bigger players every night, hope that they can keep that up all season.
"Against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center, Steph Curry had a savage message for the fans, according to Sam Amick of the Athletic: “I’m a bad man.” This quote was said to two fans supporting Los Angeles, right after he stole the ball and made a layup. It was one of his six steals for the night, and the point guard also added in 33 points, six assists, and five rebounds to easily trample the Clippers, 105-90. To emphasize his celebration even more, the 33 year old “wore” a championship belt, just like Aaron Rodgers."
Warriors have fallen down to #17 in pace. Is it because they've been playing against teams with average or slow pace recently? Cavaliers, Pistons, Raptors, 76ers, and Clippers are all ranked lower than the Warriors in pace according to stats.
The Warriors have played 20 games this season. They have been out-rebounded in only 5 of them, and all by single digits.
Sac - 4
Mem - 3
Hou - 1
Cle - 8
Lac (the 2nd game) - 4
In contrast, the Dubs have either led in rebounding (13 times) or tied (2 times). They have 7 games in which they have out-rebounded the opposition by double figures, capped by a +15 performance against the Nets. In all of the Warriors games combined, they have out-rebounded their collective opponents by 100 total rebounds.
This team gets after the ball and crashes the glass hard. My one accurate preseason prediction was that this would be a good rebounding team. So far they aren't just good, they are dominant.
OT, but I've been thinking that the bubble was the first time in my long life that I've been an NBA fan, and it was kind of great. Oh, I've been a fan of a TEAM in the NBA for each of about 50 years; but I mean being an NBA fan in the sense of rooting for the league. There hadn't been any ball after the first lockdown, there wasn't any good news anywhere, the Warriors were not even invited, the bubble was an unknown but a determined effort to keep hope going; and I decided to just watch the games as a fan of basketball, not any particular team. It was different, but it was just the right time for it. It lifted my spirits a lot to see Murray and Mitchell battling or Luka blowing up, the Heat showing up out of nowhere. Now that we're closer to whatever "normal" is I'm back to being a homer, but it was a good time to be an NBA fan. Best league around.
BTW, Klay going to Santa Cruz, even if to practice, is brilliant. Another lead by example "I'm a freakin' superstar and I'm going to go down to the G-League" because I am a selfless player devoted to winning for my team! Culture, culture, culture. The gift that keeps on giving.
Curry's Warriors punish Clippers and referees for not knowing their place

I was curious about GSW's strength in numbers stats, so I put together a graphic showing how deep our rotation has gone relative to the rest of the league: https://img.mduo13.com/gsw-depth-chart-with-labels.svg

Unlike the Clippers game from yesterday, this is a shootout.
-76ers beat the Magic
-Nuggets beat the Heat
-Rockets beat the Thunder
-Timberwolves barely beat the Pacers
-Bulls beat the Hornets
-Spurs beat the Wizards
-Cavaliers rout the Mavericks
-Jazz beating the Blazers
-Pelicans beating the Clippers
Not surprised to see Jazz beating the Blazers, but it's surprising to see that the Pelicans are beating the Clippers.

Just for the heck of it, I decided to check out the pace stats.

Look at the smile on that man’s face: this is how you face your demons and come out the other side!!
