Sources: NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Kyrie Irving met this morning and the sides had a productive and understanding visit, paving the way for the Nets and their suspended star to work through his steps on a potential path forward.
I know defense, fouling and the play of the kids are the hot topics, but Klay’s playing 18 minutes a game, is 2nd on the team in shot attempts (per 36 and per 100 possessions) and last on the team in efficiency with a .474 TS% (ignoring PBJ’s 5 minutes on the floor). And it’s not like he’s shutting people down on defense. He was much better than this in the post-season, but has really regressed.
Coming into this season, all my thoughts about the team’s potential assumed Klay would at least pick up where he left off and would likely be better with more time to work on his lateral quickness. His mental block about practicing seems to be a pretty big deal thus far.
Sounds a lot like the kind of knee surgery Robert Woods III had, hope he has better luck with his recovery. Ouch, and he's an RFA next year. Not great timing.
Klay was actually good until he got passed his minutes cap and then had to play another quarter. Someone needs to tell him that he used to keep moving his feet on D until he and the offensive player were out of bounds, making them throw up tough wide angle layups. Now he’s stopping two steps short of the rim and letting them have a corner to the rim. It’s just two more steps Klay. I promise you haven’t lost them, they are just misplaced. Once you find them: Teach Poole.
They started the 3rd with the loser version of the team’s best lineup and they looked pretty good. They finally played my favorite lineup for just over a minute!!! Woohoo! Net result lost a few points because of the Curry take foul, but the process was awesome: wide open curry 3 make, wide open Klay 3 narrow miss. Tons of space, solid D. I need more please.
Did kuminga hurt his back or Kerr’s brain? It was a perfect replica of a Wiseman performance: exciting dunk, lots of cluelessness.
Is the two way game cap in effect this year? Who’s going to tell Kerr they aren’t actually on the main roster and can’t play in the playoffs?
It looks like Poole really misses JTA. How many drives to the rim did he need to finish but instead jump and look to pass it out? If you’re driving at the rim and you have a path to the basket that means the defense is probably between you and your teammates: so put the ball into the basket please.
If Looney had just dunked the ball in the first when the Warriors were trying to send a message I’d say he’s the absolute master of his domain these days.
Wiggins is looking great these days, one heat check, one ill advised JTA pass out, one bobble and a whole lot of mastery on both sides of the ball.
Draymond is Dray. I’m glad he dunked the late game fake handoff instead throwing it off the backboard, keep doing that and ring 5 is coming.
Did I mention Curry isn’t just crushing opponents, he’s putting on a show while doing it. He’s at a whole level above NBA basketball players at this point.
So any ideas how to be more than neck and neck with the league’s bottom teams?
Like last season, finding the fifth guy to close games (especially when playing Looney as the fifth is not an option) will be key and two of their best options in GP2 and OPJ are no longer available. I'll be paying attention to this as the season goes on.
I have the answer… wait, oh…. nevermind.
Why is Jordan Poole is struggling?
A. “The punch” and or relationship issues with Draymond is having a lasting effect of some kind
B. He’s feeling pressure to live up to the big contact extension
C. All the discontinued dribble calls are messing with his head
D. All the discontinued dribble calls have taken away a key part of his game
E. He’s trying to get used to playing with new guys
F. The league is paying more attention/figured him out
G. It’s just a slump. These things happen.
H. Some combination of the choices above. (state which ones)
I. Some other factor not listed above
Personally, I think it might be a little bit of all of the above.

Wiseman riding pine last night, JMG too. Send James down to the G League for extended minutes pls!
Hey Poole, how about just trusting Kerr’s system and keep that ball swingin.

45 minutes after the Warriors come back to beat the Kings, Jordan Poole, still in game gear, is on the Chase Center practice court getting up shots.
haven’t seen a ton of commentary on Dray’s game, I thought he was phenomenal last night
none of us know how the punch is affecting the team, but Dray has been playing great basketball to start the season
Steph is now 17 points short of #50 on the NBA career scoring list behind Joe Johnson, after which he'll be trailing Mitch Richmond by 90.
Steph's current season leaders ranking:
#2 PTS, #2 PPG, #13 AST, #15 APG, #5 FT%, #12 2pt%, #11 efG%, #7 TS%, #3 FG, #3 FGA, #1 3FG, #1 3FGA, #14 FG missed, #12 FT, #15 FTA, #3 PER, #2 WS, #2 OWS, #4 WS/48, #3 BPM, #1 OBPM, #2 VORP, #5 OffRtg, #12 USG, #13 AST%
Hmmmm. Yay a win!
Curry is the best version yet.

Curry/Klay/Wiggins/Draymond foursome:
With Looney: 123 minutes, +26.2 net rating
With Poole: 52 minutes, -3.4 net rating
With Wiseman: 9 minutes, -26.3 net rating
With Moody: 9 minutes, +72.8 net rating
With Lamb: 2 minutes, +75 net rating
With Kuminga: 1 minute, -175 net rating

I really like Lamb and Jerome. They both are a natural fit for our system. Neither are flashy but rarely makes any head scratching mistakes.
I missed the first half of the game, what happened with JK? Did he lose minutes again?
also: good lord, Steph!
so, it seems like Kuminga ended up back in the doghouse after his first half minutes last night; what happened?
