The Clips traded a butt-load of stuff away to get him. I doubt they do that if they don't think they will sign him to a contract. If he's a one year rental, then I don't know what they are doing.
If you want to hear Jason Timpf drooling all over Steph’s play (looking best he’s ever been), his numbers (insane) and how he’s a legit MVP threat and why, I got you: https://youtu.be/4yZneZ6kolk?si=O2zI43vdVeX3oOkP
I'm not a Nick Wright fan, but I agree with this wholeheartedly. Trading for James Harden has not been the way to ensure that your current star sticks around for the long haul. The updated odds have them as the 4th favorite to win the west.
If it locks Kawhi back in, it's worth it but this is probably the most similar trade to the one the Brooklyn Nets made. Where they doubled down on an aging unsuccessful roster with a bunch of draft picks.
There's also the remote possibility that the Sixers sign Kawhi or Paul George next offseason into cap space. I'll be pretty surprised if either moves to the East Coast, but it would be funny if that happened.

The Clippers are a truly hilarious franchise.
Kawhi, PG, Harden & Russ are all FAs after this season.
Here’s what their future 1st round picks look like:
I don't think he's a dirty player, so I don't have a hard no against him for previous stuff, but I don't think he needs a 4th ring with another team. It's already wild enough that he has 3 all with different teams.
Occasional rentals during the specified period are allowed, but no overnight stays. No permanent establishments, like a bar or a house, are permitted. Entrance to the atoll requires wearing a hula skirt.
Knicks vs Cavs is, on paper, almost as interesting as Warriors-Kings because both are rematches of playoff teams that missed their conference finals, but are looking similar to last year and maybe better. The difference is... Steph Curry.
IMO Spurs-Suns should be pretty interesting in that you get to see how well the injured Suns squad handles a feisty Texan team (how well they handle business should be a good barometer of the team) and you might even get to see Wemby directly matched up on KD which should be something to behold indeed.
Steph currently owns the record for most 3PM in the first 4 games of the season at 24. If Doncic makes 7 3PM tomorrow night, he'll surpass Steph's record, and it'll be a record Steph only held for 48 hours. The league is changing indeed.
Another one of those invented records that mean nothing. Next it will be most 3PM in the first 5 games by players under 6'5" when the fifth game occurred on a Wednesday in an odd-numbered year.
Most 3PM in 4 games to start a season. Most 3PM in 4 games? Well, that's also Steph with 36 in April 2021. More impressive is that if you extend it to 5 games the record is 46. Even if Steph hits 21 3PM on Wednesday, he still won't even tie his own record for a given 5-game stretch.
I don't like Luka. But he can set whatever records he wants. If we know Steph, and we do, Steph will use anything and everything for motivation to get ring #5...
If you need something to get you to your happy place ...
To recap: we were up by 2 at the half and finished up 28.
Two observations:
1. Saric may be slow, but lord does he compete. He got three good rebounds in traffic in the third quarter while he was getting bounced around like a bowling pin.
2. I hadn't noticed this live, but: You will recall that Draymond picked up a celebration tech on LQ's three that bounced high on the backboard and fell in. What I hadn't noticed is that later, LQ had a nice little layup. Draymond let out a "yeah!" so loud that you could have heard it in Houston (but stayed off the court, so no tech). :)
Curious if Dray's T counts towards his 16 before a suspension since it wasn't directed at another player or official. I know they don't count the flopping T's towards the magic 16 number.
Did some googling. I didn't find anything definitive, but if he got T'd up under the Theo Pinson rule (which I suspect), then it probably does count against the 16 tech limit.
The tweet below says that it is an unsportsmanlike [conduct] technical. Those are the ones that count against the 16 limit.
tweet:
Unsportsmanlike technical assessed for players not in game who enter playing court or making "distracting" move.
The feeling I get when its clear both Moody and Kuminga are both turning into productive NBA players is in a weird way like a proud father watching his kids mature into upstanding young adults. Its a odd feeling of pride and appreciation that they have weathered the storms of their second years and are showing signs the game is slowing down. I know they are not completely there, and there can be bumps (JP), but these guys have that look. I am just sitting here smiling. It is such a good feeling. Keep it up. We have a long ways to go and we need you.
New thread. https://dubnationhq.com/p/explain-chris-paul-runs-new-spain
Happy Halloween Everybody!
Early 3Q vs pelicans. Steph gets shot blocked in the lane...as he is getting up off the floor, he has enough gravity to get Moody a layin. Gravity.
Also that was the last two point shot he missed, after that he was 8 of 8. Two of which were foot on the line threes.
So who in 2024 would be crazy enough to give a 35-year old tubby James Harden a multi-year six-figure contract that he's apparently seeking?
I hope I am wrong, but the answer to be is..
saudi arabia - only question of time before those gas-controlling-*holes will buy up basketball

Those fat suits don't come cheap, you know
Six is actually reasonable... but you probably meant nine-figure
🤣 utterly brilliant
Oh my, yes, 9-figures.... I can't think in millions, I've got enough to last the week!
Six is way below vet min.
Well he did take a discount once... :-)
Ok, not so reasonable.

I highly recommend listening to it while buzzed on wine.
Of course. I mean, name at least two things not improved by being buzzed on wine.
Driving.
And defense.
Sobriety
A. That's only one.
2. Less sobriety is the improvement.

The Clippers are a truly hilarious franchise.
Kawhi, PG, Harden & Russ are all FAs after this season.
Here’s what their future 1st round picks look like:
‘24 to OKC
‘25 swap w/ OKC
‘26 to OKC
‘27 swap with OKC
‘28 to PHI
‘29 swap with PHI
They’ve also traded 6 2nds away.
Well, they probably won't be good enough for those swaps to matter at least.
They’re probably going to be swapping lottery picks for 1st rounders in the 20’s.
If I read it right the ‘26 first rounder is going to Phi as well.
OKC is going to own the latter part of this decade
As Ivan pointed out, they’re getting to a point that they have way more picks than roster spots.
It’s a good problem to have. They have more trade ammo than anyone for a big vet obviously.
But what Presti loves to do is trade picks for better future picks. Or consolidate multiple picks to trade up.
Their 30000 first round picks will definitely help them stay competitive as all that oil money dries up, that's for sure
Chances of winning it all this season: 1.37%
Danny Green for roster spot #14?
He looked quite bad in his two games with the Sixers this season. Also, Klay Thompson may have a thing or two to say about this.
I don't think he's a dirty player, so I don't have a hard no against him for previous stuff, but I don't think he needs a 4th ring with another team. It's already wild enough that he has 3 all with different teams.
He blew his knee out 18 months ago (ACL and LCL). Not sure he can even play.
If he can play, I think he'd be fine. He's a very solid vet. But, Klay would probably veto.
Waiter, may I see the rest of the menu please?
1. Dion Waiters
2. Barbara Walters
3. Tom Waits

I’m for getting behind the mule…
Waits please - or leave it open
We have to sign somebody to roster spot 14 in about a week. League minimum is 14 players (but with two weeks where you can dip below that).
OK. Thanks. I didn’t realize.
Waits for the National Anthem please.
We good. 😉
James wiseman
On a minimum, he might be worth another shot?
Well Tom is local so could do some home games I guess and would be worth it for the National Anthem.
Walter White
White whine
I mean we could sign him and then immediately waive him, that might be fun.
To save some effort, just have the media start rumors that we're heavily interested for a time and then say talks went south....
Love this article Daniel! And love the shot of Steph grinning at Brooks. I voted for CP3 on my fan apology tour for him.
What a line
"Maybe that’s why Curry decided to incinerate both of those franchises to remind CP3 that in the Golden Empire his future is brighter than his past."
Bravo!
Anything out there about Draymond? When he fell down hard, he was clutching his back. Never want to see that.

Klay and Saric probable. JK still questionable. Draymond is not even on the injury report.
Thnx
What would be a good TJD feeling meter?

Looking for more of an Oct-June rental.
Occasional rentals during the specified period are allowed, but no overnight stays. No permanent establishments, like a bar or a house, are permitted. Entrance to the atoll requires wearing a hula skirt.
Gotta say, after the last week, tonight's slate of games feels pretty dull:
- Knicks @ Cavaliers - playoff rematch, sure, but... booooooring
- Spurs @ Suns - who from Phoenix's rotating cast of injured stars will play to get their shit blocked by Wemby? Stay tuned to find out...
- Magic @ Clippers - Disney Cup part two? Presumably Harden isn't yet available and the Magic looked lackluster in their loss to the Lakers.
On the other hand, Wednesday is PACKED, even if you ignore Kings @ Warriors. Just a few:
- Cavaliers @ Knicks - wait, what, they play each other b2b? LOL. No not this one...
- Lakers @ Clippers - should have Harden available I'd think, might be interesting
- Nuggets @ Timberwolves - T'wolves might make the Nuggets sweat a bit
- Thunder @ Pelicans - will BI play? could be interesting.
- Pacers @ Celtics - Pacers have looked frisky, Celtics dominating. could be good, could be a blowout
- ...plus a lot more
Knicks vs Cavs is, on paper, almost as interesting as Warriors-Kings because both are rematches of playoff teams that missed their conference finals, but are looking similar to last year and maybe better.
I'd like to see Wemby and KD get tangled up and fall on top of one another...it might look like a daddy longleg.
In the Magic's defense, Wagner and Banchero had terrible shooting nights but overall the team didn't look terrible.
Update: Harden will be in shape and ready to play.....never.
So how long before Harden jumps again and joins the lakers? Or… the Suns?
Gotta play well this year since he’s forced to be a FA this off-season. He’ll go where he’s paid.
Yes, it's early days, but Steph is at the top of many statistical categories so far this year:
- 1st Points - 134
- 2nd PPG - 33.5
- 2nd FGM - 43
- 4th FGA - 77
- 1st 3PM - 24
- 1st 3PA - 51
- T5th FTM - 24
- 2nd PER - 35.3
- 1st Win Shares - 1.1
- 1st Offensive Win Shares - 0.9
- 2nd Win Shares/48 - 0.400
- 1st BPM - 16.0
- 1st OBPM - 14.3
- 1st VORP - 0.6
Plus one painting (The Scream, NBA-style)

yes, but Klay was something like 13 for 18 before he started gunning for the record.
Another one of those invented records that mean nothing. Next it will be most 3PM in the first 5 games by players under 6'5" when the fifth game occurred on a Wednesday in an odd-numbered year.
Yeah, but the coveted record is the one "during a full moon."
