On your list, what is ORTG, MPG, etc. Clippers listed at 116 when the W's only scored 102 when they lost to the Clippers.

I am the biggest W fan, but there is just something missing. When generally healthy, they have lost too many games to teams they should have beaten. Portland, Toronto, etc.

Since they couldn't teach JK how to properly score (should easily be at least 20 points per game), they need a player with HEIGHT & SCORING. Michael Porter, 6'10" 27 ys old, scoring in the 20's for Nets would fill the bill. Love to get Markkinen, but I assume he is not attainable.

ORTG -> offensive rating (something like points per 100 poss)

MPG -> minutes per game.

Well... reports have come out in the last 24 hours that he's a "lock" to be traded...

It wasn't a B2B for the Nets, they've got 3 road games between now and Jan 15th, so we'll see how it goes.

Semi-random thought/question: So i have read (here and elsewhere) the idea that JK is sitting (couldn't get off the bench even when Steph Dray Jimmy all out) because they already have a trade for him worked out. So wouldn't that mean the player(s) we're getting is also someone not playing rn?

JK sitting because they already have a trade in place is one possible theory. It could also be because JK's agent requested it, or because Kerr can't seem to find the correct way to weave him into the rotation.

I think the one game he was allowed to play (PHX, iirc) is illustrative. He played an extremely limited number of minutes and never got over his initial anxiety re: playing and worrying about getting yanked. You could see he was tentative, second guessing himself, and forcing plays. I suspect a look at his career games shows a pattern that he always needs a good chunk of minutes to get settled in and start playing with confidence. Kerr has only rarely given him that, and the few times he's actually gotten on a good roll, he gets injured. Then, on his return, something's always shifted and he's fighting for a rotation spot again, and his play suffers accordingly.

I believe Kerr has said as much, that JK is a player who needs a lot of minutes to produce, and that it's just not something he can afford on this team right now. Unfortunately, the OKC game would probably have been the best bet, but as the drama around that day reflected, not everyone was on the same page about that. On that day, whether it was the FO or the agent or JK himself who nixed Steve's intention to give him an extended run, we'll probably never know.

So, maybe he's sitting because the FO and Kerr knows that playing him a mere 10 minutes a game like Gui would tank his trade value as well as hurt the team's winning chances.

Depends on the player. If it's a guy like MPJ, I don't think he's going to be forced to languish at the end of the bench not playing for a month.

So you're suggesting that the Warriors agreed to a trade where they can't play their player but the other team can? Seems like a weird choice to me.

JK is out of the rotation mostly because he's been playing poorly. Not a lot of opportunity cost to sit him. The player we would get back may be more impactful on his team.

Also, these are just handshake deals. If either player got injured before the trade can be consummated, then the deal will be off. The Dubs don't really have a veto over what the other team does, but they can back out.

I figure that if Kuminga got hurt, what little market he has would dry up. Teams would probably pay pretty well for MPJ, even if injured.

depends on the injury, I'm sure. An ACL would tank his value.

I doubt there's an agreement with another team to hold out both players as a condition of a trade. JK sitting is more than likely a Warriors agreement with his representation.

Atlanta is an interesting team. After a seven-game skid they’re 4-2 in their last six games; with wins over MIN and @NY, followed by back-to-back losses @TOR, followed by wins over NO and @DEN. (These games were played without Trae, so their current roster construction).

I’d say this is a more dangerous opponent than most of our recent ones.

Will McCollum and Kispert play for them this evening? If so, that might disrupt their schemes, particularly on defense, where neither is known as a good defender anyway.

With the right guys development could have happened while chasing championships. Moody did in fact play useful minutes in 2022 and he is playing useful minutes now, at least on defense. In retrospect, the kind of players the Warriors couldn't afford where hyper athletic guys with weak basketball skills like, oh, I don't know, James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga. Live and learn.

Sabiscrashingout.'s avatar

Wiseman has gotten so many chances. Pacers signed him to a ten day as recently as late December. It lasted 3 days.

Well... the idea with those guys is that they develop the basketball skills, not stay weak at them... but oh well, it didn't work out.

To be fair, JK does have the basketball skills to be an impactful NBA player. He just doesn't fit in Kerr's system with Butler. Big James never developed enough basketball skills to be an impactful NBA player.
