I genuinely think we can compete and win against any squad in the Western Conference. The Nuggets and the Jazz are the only teams that give me pause.

I was wondering recently how many other teams have started out 9-1 and then I come here and Daniel has already answered the question for me!

My take-aways from this:

Winning 9 out of 10 to start the season is REALLY HARD! Look at the history of all of the great teams in the NBA. Before this season only five teams have started with this exact record. It's not unusual for good teams (or even just hot teams) to have a 9-1 stretch during the season. Why does it happen so infrequently to begin the season?

Teams that start 9-1 have historically been really good. Every single one making it to the Finals? The past is certainly no guarantee of the future, but that really does point to good things for this Warriors team.

14 teams have had even better starts. 14 teams have started a season 10-0. First off, considering only 20 out of 1603 teams have started 9-1 or better it again shows how hard it is. But the odd thing to me is that out of the 1603 starts that teams have had to the regular season, more than twice have started out 10-0 than 9-1. In theory, it's easier to go 9-1 than 10-0. Why do teams achieve 10-0 more frequently than 9-1?

News: Monday evening Bay Area was hit by bomb cyclone and atmospheric river. Its epicenter was Chase center. Steph Curry bombed away treys to a 50 points night and citizens of Dub Nation were swept away in river of joy. There is giddy optimism in Dub Nation that 9-1 season start is indication that two year drought of Dubs' NBA dominance is at an end.

If the Warriors go on another run like they did in the mid 10s, and Steph manages to play into his 40s, his career arc will be very similar to that of Tom Brady.

Which about 3 years ago made me want to cringe if I typed that, but I guess now that TB12 has 7 rings, plays for Tampa and is the undisputed GOAT in football...I actually kinda like the guy.

I hope Steph can can play into his 40s, not just to have a shot at chasing Jordan's throne (and if he wins 4 more rings, I guarantee you he will be in that conversation)...but also so I'll hopefully have enough money to see his final game at Chase.

Considering the decline of Wiggins and the stepping up of Poole and other supporting players, and comparing this group with the last 2 seasons, we are doing splendidly! Luck and magic are still with us, and of course, Steph and Dray, the Penn and Teller of basketball!

Q: "Are these Warriors the greatest--"

A. No.

I should probably read the article, though.

Good time for this article.

I was thinking about the 76 best players list, the Championship +73 wins group, and the way people have been approaching this Warriors team.

There’s a common theme.

Even though everyone cried about Durant joining the Hampton 5, nobody gives these guys any real respect.

Steph must be thought of as by far the best player in the history of the league, to single-handedly carry a team with no other top 75 players to the best record in league history.

Three of the Core 4 are back and playing well. The other starters consist of one champion, one #1 pick, and one most improved player candidate. The bench has more shooting and basketball IQ than at any point in the prior run. And the 15th man is a +\- machine who visibly changes games.

This team is for real. It has guys who have done it and won it. It has a championship proven system and 12+ players that can execute it. It has Steph Curry and it has Draymond back in the role that he excels at. There’s no need to wait and see. Barring injury, this team should be expected to be a championship contender now that it has shown how well the players fit the system.

I hope they play with a fat chip on their shoulder all year and smash their way to a title, breaking the Nets into pieces along the way. And I hope they enjoy every minute of it.

Yeah, let’s take a look at our schedule:

We’ve played two games against supposed title contenders/favorites (LAL and LAC).

We’ve played a game against a supposed lock for the playoffs who has the potential to be a contender (ATL).

We’ve played three games against young, up and coming teams who people either have penciled in for the playoffs or will at least fight for them credibly (CHA, MEM, SAC).

We’ve played two games against a β€œcupcake” who has already taken two games from one of the supposed title contenders (OKC).

We’ve played two games against cupcakes who people expect will not contend this year (NOP, HOU).

No, this is not a murderer’s row. But if the league really wanted to make things easy on the β€œGolden Boy” Steph and his fellow Warriors, then I highly doubt they start them off with LAL and LAC right off the bat lol. Or give them ATL on the second game of a B2B.

Now, you wanna see a real soft schedule, take a look at the LAL schedule. You got maybe 4-5 games in there against teams expected to even compete for the playoffs. That SAS-OKC-CLE-HOU-HOU-OKC stretch in particular was set up to have them get hot and build momentum. But they didn’t.

We are 9-1. No, we are not a .900 level team (though that would be nice lol). But this team is real. It’s young, deep, and good. Plus, it has reinforcements on the way.

And if anything, it’s still an underestimated bunch who have every right to play with a chip on their shoulder.

There are still people who think the Warriors’ success was the product of a lucky fluke. Some of them probably still play in the NBA. It’s time they learned otherwise, in living color, once and for all.
