Sam Vecenie has published his annual comprehensive draft board. The format has changed from previous years, but it’s super in depth on the top 60 players

Great in-depth discussion. Can't believe it's less than a week to the draft.

It wouldn't surprise me if Okorie was one of the biggest risers this year. And not just because Jalen Brunson is the reigning FMVP.

It would be interesting to see what CHAW would've thought of Dray at MSU (Dray was a year and a half younger I think, which is crazy because for some people Green was considered borderline lolOLD)

I think there should be an Explain One Reaction (sort of like a celebration audit) for EA's trying to process Morez being ranked in the 130's.

Feels about right to what I saw, only big surprise is how well Philon graded out, and to some degree how highly Okorie was rated overall. Stand by the dream is trading down for Okorie and Graves.

Thanks, Eric. Interesting stuff.

I wonder if NIL contracts are correlated at all with NBA success. One could argue that the people paying prospects want the best ROI, and would have some insights into who would succeed down the road.

For context (according to Google), BPM does include some measure of team and conference strength, and the draft combine looks at:

1. Anthropometric Measurements

Height: Measured both with and without shoes.

Wingspan: Total arm span from fingertip to fingertip.

Standing Reach: The highest point a player can reach flat-footed, which is vital for projecting shot blocking and rebounding.

Weight & Body Fat: Total body weight and body fat percentage.

Hand Size: Measured for both hand length and hand width.

2. Athletic Testing

Standing Vertical Leap: Jumping ability straight up from a stationary position with no approach.

Max Vertical Leap: The highest vertical jump achieved with a running start or approach.

Three-Quarter Sprint: Measures a player's baseline speed, timed over a 3 ÷ 4 court distance (75 feet).

Lane Agility Drill: A test of foot speed and quickness, measuring how fast a player can navigate a specific lane pattern.

Shuttle Run: Tests lateral quickness, change-of-direction speed, and overall body control.

3. Shooting Skills and Scrimmages

Spot-Up Shooting: Evaluates shooting percentages from various spots on the court, such as NBA three-point range, to assess mechanics and accuracy.

Open Runs/Scrimmages: Live five-on-five games that allow teams to gauge a player's basketball IQ, decision-making, and competitive drive in a structured environment.

I'm guessing that teams have a pretty good idea of what they think matters most to the success of a college player in the NBA and to their team. Of course, often they're wrong. Thus, DubNationHQ and fans everywhere.

You have the wrong age on Okorie. He’s April 2007. He’s 19. There was some confusion early on in the draft cycle people had put out the wrong age. To put it in perspective he’s a year and a half younger than Burries. To put it in even more perspective Swain who is a Junior is only a couple months older than Burries.

I'm liking Swain a lot. Seems like a young Jimmy Butler

I don't think he's quite the same mental or physical makeup as Jimmy. My thought is more along the lines of Khris Middleton or poor man's Jalen Williams. The shooting is really the question. If he can develop into a reliable 3pt shooter it will make his slashing way more valuable. Either way 11 is probably too early to take him, but maybe not by much and I'd certainly prefer him to Cenac or Morez Johnson if I'm being honest. It is interesting how much people index on the class as opposed to the actual birthdate of these players. Guys like Brandon Miller and Chet and the aforementioned Burries were right around the same age as Swain when they were drafted even though he's a Junior.

Well Aday Mara was listed in the mock yahoo at #11. I like the name. 😂 Easy to say and pronounce.

We will know in 6 days. This was a very informative discussion. Thank you!
