With Wiggins playing no home games, looks like the Warriors can save a shit load of money this year. Kind of solves the salary cap issue. Maybe we can now use our TPMLE on a player who is afraid of flying and can only play home games.
back to simmons, are you guys thinking that the day after the season starts, the payroll match for a team trading for simmons drops by 50% because he got half his salary? If that is what you are saying be explicit. I think what is true is the acquiring team only has to pay him the 2nd half of his salary but that the cap number stays the same. In any event, if true re acquiring team only having to pay out half the salary, then I predict there is no deal until after the day after simmons gets paid half his annual salary, ...we are talking $15 M
"There’s increasing concern among the Warriors about the early season availability of starting small forward Andrew Wiggins, who has declined to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to NBA sources."
So..... Wiggins + Wiseman + 2 top 10 protected 1sts for Simmons?
Kendrick Perkins made a comparison between Ben Simmons and Dray (yeah, no shit Perk) and it has spawned a bit of a Dray love fest on Twitter which extends beyond the Warriors fan sphere.
it's EXTREMELY cathartic to read, even if a lot of it is just shitting on Simmons
Guys, I saw this post on GoldenStateOfMind and it was interesting enough that I wanted to bring it over to here!!
"I have a hypothesis that I want to share here. It is my attempt to explain two puzzling observations:
1. The Dubs are going into the season with 1.5 true centers on the roster. One is Loon and the half is Wiseman who will not be ready before the start of the season and even when he is, I am not sure how many minutes he'll see on the floor.
2. What seems to be an excessive series of workouts of PGs, many reported to be several days to a week long.
What would be a single explanation for both facts? My purely hypothetical explanation is that Kerr has come up with some novel style of play, maybe a completely new one or maybe some twist on the old one, and he needs a PG with a certain skillset to be able to play. This is why these longish workouts, including Cook's. They didn't know if Cook would fit since they haven't tried him in this role when he was here before. The extended time might be needed to see each PG play with a few other players as this is not an individual skill like say shooting. I don't know what the Dubs' style will be but the traditional 5s might be not needed for it and this would explain the observation 1. Maybe the successful run at the end of the last season inspired Kerr to use the small ball version or its derivative for most of the season. Back then, the players just ran out of gas, as we had 8-9 bodies available and not all of them even fit the system. Now, they might have more bodies to keep it going for the whole season. The system may rely on speed and passing and therefore the PG in the second unit is very important. We don't want to have another Wanamaker disaster. GPII might be just about OK, but not ideal. This explains why they still keep him, but also keep looking. Chiozza is very fast and this might be the reason they've signed him. Maybe they are looking for very fast decision-makers or maybe for the players who can move well without the ball and/or shoot off a screen in less than a second, like Steph, Klay and Poole can do. Maybe the motion offence will have another gear or maybe the motion itself will have another level of complexity. If you think about it - it makes sense. The main contenders are two veteran teams, the Lakers and the Nets. How do you make their life tough? Speed is the answer. If you make them running after you on defence, then they'll have no energy to play on offence, particularly if you have some good defenders against them. But we need to get our own vets to be in good physical shape. At least Dray seems to stay ready this offseason. Plus our vets have a 5 year age advantage on the Lakers' vets. The higher the speed, the more advantage we'll have on them."
For once I'm super excited about the preseason because even when we clear the bench it's going to be guys like JFK and Moody playing and not Jacob Evans
Oct. 19 | Gary Payton II ($2M) guarantees for $659k
Oct. 19 | 21/22 Opening Night vs LAL
Oct. 31 | James Wiseman 3rd Year Team Option Deadline
Oct. 31 | Jordan Poole 4th Year Team Option Deadline
Within the next week, the Warriors will complete their training camp roster by adding 3 more players. Based on reports, seems like there's a heavy emphasis on the 15th roster spot competition so would expect 1-2 more vet signings for that (ie. a Bradley, Arcidiacono, Thomas, etc)

Love the series and the highlighting of Draymond. In that spirit, an oldie (ish) but goodie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkLmR3ka4Mo
Fun fact of the day: Steph shot 50% on off the dribble threes last season. Second on the list: Luka at 38.5% LOL

Whelp, Looks like the original article is behind a pay wall. But now it makes more sense where the Simmons and Draymond overlap opinions are coming from. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.goldenstateofmind.com/platform/amp/2021/9/21/22687390/warriors-ben-simmons-rumors-joe-lacob
Maybe there are 16 hour days going into learning how to effectively evaluate basketball talent and fit?
Otherwise, anyone else stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently? I was planning to, but Covid.
So, we're almost there, right? I can make it, I think.
