ha that was a mistake, that's fixed. It would be an interesting experiment to see if the paid subs are more insane than the whole commenting group or less
I’m meh with this trade. Got rid of poole which is good. I think CP3 playing off the bench for max 20 minutes a game will help keep him through the season. Maybe CP3 can teach Curry how to draw fouls? More importantly we have a playmaker and leader of a second unit that seemed like it had no leader. Problem is will CP3 accept that role.
Don’t think we’ve been very good in the draft anyways so don’t care so much about the picks. I don’t see what the hype about Rollins is.
I do think it’s sad that poole gets punched and the organization backs draymond and ships him out (though based on his performance in the playoffs and attitude it was probably worth it)
That seals the deal. I am no longer a Warriors fan. I’ve been a fan since 1989 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Mike Dunleavy Jr is officially the worst gm in history.
One angle fans aren't considering, CP3's contract next season is entirely non-guaranteed. That means a) if it's a disaster then they could trade him at the deadline as he's essentially an expiring (not a good outcome obviously) b) if it's a major success they could negotiate a deal with him, not exercise the option and then sign him at a much reduced rate, or the most important one c) they can keep the salary slot alive by exercising the team option and then trading his HUGE expiring salary for depth pieces for next season.
Given that I think CP3 is an upgrade over Poole for this season, I think this sets the Warriors up better to win in the next few years despite the fact that I do have belief that Poole could be very good. Although to be real, I don't think it was going to happen on the Warriors, he needs to go to a team where he can be the lead guard and now he's on that team. Good luck to the kid, and thank you for your vital contributions to a championship, you're good in my book for that.
I mean the other thing is that the Warriors desperately needed a distributor in the second unit and Poole was ill suited for that as he is more of a "bucket getter". CP3 is like the greatest distributor in NBA history, it'll be like having Iguodala organizing the second unit again.
The big downside of this move is the massive injury risk increase, but the hope is that CP3 and Curry help each other get through the season intact by reducing the creation responsibilities of the other guy.
And the other thing is that Poole's contract was a huge negative, the fact that they found this solution without having to attach Kuminga or a first rounder (don't care about a protected 2030 first rounder) is a big positive to me.
Washington and Phoenix have finalized the Bradley Beal trade, landing the Wizards six second-round draft picks and four first-round pick swaps, sources tell ESPN. Suns are sending seconds in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2030. Pick swaps in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.
Well can't say that i necessarily agree with the move BUT i know that new Collective Bargaining agreement makes things alot more onerous for a long term contract like Poole's . Bit surprised Washington bit on a long term contract considering that 2030 pick may never materialize for them so in essence JUST a 2027 2nd round pick for taking up what is perceived to be a negative value contract. Credit to Lacob/Magic Mike because as stated before, I was skeptical it could be done
I guess dunleavy had to get in a player more hated then him by Dubs fans. This is a bullshit trade as far as I am concerned and tells me that Steve Kerr and Dray have more to say in running this org ! It hurts me to see a promising young player who plays the entire season gone in place of a 38 year old who does not complete a season!
At this moment, I am even less of a fan of Steve Kerr!
NEW EMERGENCY THREAD
You're going to have to give me a while to come up with rational thoughts about this...

Let's go Sonogo! Cuz why not!

ROLLINS IS INCLUDED IN THE TRADE!?!?!!?

LOL
Wait, why are people saying that Rollins was being included in the trade? None of the tweets I've seen are mentioning that.
Edit: NVM. I found it.
Golden State is also trading 2022 second-rounder Ryan Rollins to Washington as part of Poole-CP3 deal, sources said.

Shams reported it. Check Hoops Rumors. That is real.
I am ready to become the League Villains again, just re-sign Dray and win some games and let the hate flow

The two timeline experiment is OVER
Yup, I am pleased about that.
Which is good. Have to maximize Steph's window
This take feels nice and comfy and a bit rose-colored .

Greatest distributor for the 3 playoff games he lasts

Wow... initial thoughts: Chris Paul is fucking old. That is all.
Okay fine, there's more: he's also expensive.
Okay last thing: he'll probably make us better in 2023... I don't know about 2024 though!
And shitty.
Yeah, hopefully we don't expect Andre to help us win in 2024

Welp. Looks like CP3 is here to stay.
I just heard. Nooooooooooooooo!
Selling at the absolute low on Poole to get a washed up injury prone unlikable CP3 AND giving up a 1st, 2nd and Rollins?
There better be a master plan I'm not seeing here.
Right??

Well I like what we did more than what the Suns did. I hate what the Suns did (if I were a Suns fan) though so......
I don’t like it
giving up value, getting smaller, losing rim pressure… and mostly I just don’t like CP3
TK actually put things into perspective. Gets out of that Poole contract but keeps that salary slot for another potential max type player type trade
PG13 is coming to town
How, tho... routing CP3, JK, and GP2 to LAC?
I can see something like getting Norman Powell or Marcus Morris or something...

Qatar (QIA) just bought a stake in the Wizards. What a weird off-season so far.
