Liddel? Really? Over LaRavia? The defense skill is tantalizing, but I can’t get excited for a player who’s best offense seems to come out of post ups (will get slim chances for that in the NBA, ESPECIALLY with the Dubs) and is mayyybe a 35% 3 point shooter in the NBA.

LaRavia already plays like a Warrior on offense with his passing, cutting and, oh yeah, Catch & Shoot.

Defensively looks like a badass, well-trained defender (knows when to help, positioning, rebounding) … again very Warriors esque.

He’s also going to be 20 for this whole upcoming season, Liddel turns 22 a week before Christmas. He’d fit in nicely with both Steph and with Poole/Joku/Moody.

Laravia.

Liddell for shot blocking and defense. Most likely, he will be selected before #28?

Group B - EJ Liddell

I had to sleep on this, but Liddell. His shot blocking timing is excellent. After watching the RWIII be the kingpin of the Celts defense, I can’t help but think we will need an agile help defender that can (not entirely, but at least try) replace the help side D and rim protection Dray gives us. Ideally Wiseman will do some of this, but I haven’t seen this kind of timing from him yet

I’ve been very conflicted about this group since I like all of them ( https://dubnationhq.com/p/2022-draft-b/comment/7199802 ), but I’ve finally decided to live by my own code. I said that the top priority is to take a high risk high reward player, and that player is Jaden Hardy, unless there are character issues we don’t know about.

He was a Top-5-pick talent who has fallen due to a terrible start in the G-League and has steadily improved. The biggest thing GSW lacks is a driver who can put pressure on the rim. Today we have Steph (one of the all time greats at that) and Poole who can feast only on non-shot-blocking defenses for today.

Any defensive concerns? Or do you think coaching & culture can shape that?

Oh yeah I have LOTS of concerns!

But anyone who falls to #28 with high upside will have serious concerns (or they would have gone in the lottery).

Between LaRavia and Liddell, I think it depends on how the front office sees the FA and trade activity pan out over the next year. With Wiggs and Kuminga, we are set at 3/4, but Looney could get an offer that he can't refuse and the Warriors can't match, and the 4/5 spot could suddenly look like an urgent need. Draymond will need more rest next season, and beyond.

Liddell is a better fit, IMO. Reminds me of Paschall on interior O, but without the defensive liabilities and more switchable.

Big NO on Hardy, won't see the floor except maybe garbage time. Would be ok with Roddy for reasons outlined above.

Sadly, I think the Looney FA market won’t be clear by Thursday…

(I can’t tell who you’re voting for, so I’ll take this as an Abstain vote unless you clarify)

Liddell is my choice

Voting for LaRavia partly because he’s younger than Liddell. I’d be happy with either of them, though.

I’m definitely leaning toward the idea of W/F role player, preferably with some combination of defense, cutting, basic ability to keep the ball moving, and spot up shooting. Liddell, LaRavia, and Braun all seem to meet that to various degrees. I am slightly worried about aiming for that and accidentally drafting another Jacob Evans, but it’s still worth aiming for.

On a different note, I thought it was interesting that Lacob recently said that the 14th player on their draft board last year was Trey Murphy III, another person who DNHQ was pretty high on and who I would’ve been quite happy with.

It feels kinda lonely in the other thread (though i’m enjoying watch sabrina updates by replying to her own comments :)

So my draft comment is:

Liddell or LaRavia... Lois Lane or Lana Lang? Hmmm. For a Kerr team, I like long wings who are willing passers who keep the offense flowing and versatile defenders on and off ball, which leads me to LaRavia. His wingspan is nothing special considering his height but it doesn't suck. He can shoot, and he'll improve there if he's a hard worker — and the Dubs look for character guys who work hard. He's not a super athlete but at #28, if he can be a solid role player, that's good enough. Besides, Liddell went to Ohio State, and while I have nothing against OSU, our Michigan and Michigan State guys probably do!

I'm out on Hardy as there are just too many inefficient guards who fit his mold. His FT% does give me a bit of pause, but almost everything else is a red flag. I wouldn't be upset with any of the three others, and Bob has earned our trust, so I'd live with any of them. And at 28, I have a feeling at least 1/3 are off the board if not 2/3.

By the slimmest of margins, I have Liddell over Laravia. Just a bit longer wingspan, similar shooting upside, and was a better scorer. Plus, Liddell had clear improvement year after year. I just see very little chance of him being available to pick at 28.

LaRavia looks promising, an agile shooter with a bit of size.

LaRavia would be my top pick, but I am very interested in Roddy. I love the acreage!

Wouldn’t hate Liddell.

Why is Hardy even being considered for the first round?

Do we have to explain our reasoning? Ok: off-ball movement is the most important skill for the Warriors to be the WARRIORS. I love agility over jumping (Steph over everyone) and passing with feel and anticipation is also catnip for me. LaRavia seems to come in just ahead of Roddy in my dream categories. Liddell doesn’t seem to have the efficiency or the quickness of the other two.

Hardy might or might not be right for GSW (that’s for us to determine!) but Hardy’s considered a dynamic scorer playing against grown men. He’s projected to go around #23 and would be the 4th “best” prospect among all 20 people that we’re covering and 2nd in this batch (Liddell is projected around #19)

I vote Liddell. I think his D looks more playable and I can picture him doing good things in the Ws offense. Looks like he could hit from his favorite spots, a la old DWest. Otherwise, he'll screen and crash the glass and help all the scorers get their buckets.
